James Nicolls left last week for Belgrade Lakes, Me., for’ the summer, to serve as golf pro fessional there. Dr. J. A. Ruggles spent last week on a fishing trip to Wrights- ville Beach.. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hall of Mayesville, Ky., are visiting her father, H. Carson Graham. Mrs. Edwin L. Scofield has re turned from Nantucket. Robert Chriscoe has received his discharge from the army air corps and has returned to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Chriscoe. Bill Sledge has returned from a visit with his sister. Ensign Katherine Sledge of Washing ton and Miss Nancy Sledge, Dev- ereaux Schools, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Viall, Jr., are on a two weeks’ visit with her father in Peekskill, N. Y. Douglas Glasspool left last week for Fishers Island for the summer. Mrs. A. M. Oglesby has return ed from a lengthy visit with her daughter in Virginia. L. B. Creath left Thursday for Iowa for a brief visit and will be accompanied home by Mrs. Creath and their daughter, Patty. Miss Maxine Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Kennedy and Walter Kennedy spent the week end in Concord with Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Felker. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wicker and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hamilton spent the weekend at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Ehrhal'dt. are her sister, Mrs. Arthur R. Boring and daughters Dorothy and Betty and nieces, Doris and Dorothy Watson of Plant City, Florida. Clyde Garner, who was a mem ber of the graduating class this spring has entered the Univer sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ellis Mosher, manager of the A & P Tea Company is on vaca tion and Milton McGuirt of Rockingham is relief manager. John Hailey of Charlotte is in the meat department while Pete Pinion is vacationing. Mrs. E. G. Fitzgerald has left for the summer at Nantucket. Miss Betsy Carter who attend ed St. Mary’s in Raleigh has ar rived home to spend her summer vacation. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Stouten- berg of St. Petersburg, Fla., have been guests of their daughter, Mrs. Eldon Thompson and Mr. Thompson at their Howard Apartment for several days. Dr. and Mrs. Thaddeous A. Cheatham have gone to Wrights- ville Beach for a short vacation. Dr. and Mrs. Eric Narrington left last week for New York. Mrs. Narrington was guest of her sister, Mrs. John Hobson for a number of weeks this spring. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Lewis, and Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Palmer have returned from Lenox, Mass., where they visited Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Sarmuk. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Dees, Jr., and young son Frankie spent sev eral days in Darlington, S. C. Mrs. Holland Smith of Char lotte is spending two weeks with her sister, Mrs. Robert F. Shaw at Chinatree Cottage. Mrs. W. Raymond Johnson and daughter, Jean of Durham were weekend guests of the Herman Campbells. Mr. and Mrs. Lacy Lee Phil lips and family who have been making Pinehurst their home for several months while Mr. Phil lips served on the local Police Force, have moved to Rocking ham.
