A person would have to have a double dose of sales resistance to keep from buying I from those super salesmen, school boys whose high pres sure sales talk is a natural talent ‘and very definitely something not learned in the school room. ■They get you going and coming. I But why not give in and buy ia ticket? It is at the gall game I that the supetr duper de luxe i Plymouth is to be given away. You might be the lucky winner. It has been confirmed by tele gram that the car is on the way. So it will be here all right. The Jaycees are hoping that there will be a large number of floats entered for the grand par- jade, and that there will also be (enough odd turnouts to tickle jthe fancy of that enormous crowd they’re expecting to throng the streets of Carthage come Inde pendence Day. Do you have any of the early types of the horseless carriage? How about an old Model T? Or the surrey with the fringe on top? They would do nicely for the parade. First prize for the best float will be $25.00, second prize, $15.00, third prize, $5.00. A county-wide beauty contest will also be held in Carthage bn the Fourth. The young ladies en tering will be sponsored by some business or civic organization in their respective communities. The winner will be given a week at Carolina Beach with all expenses paid. From there, she will go to Wilson where she will be entered in the state Jaycee beauty con test. the faculty here next year. From now on Mr. Ginsberg states the shop will re- main open until eleven every night and from 3:00 to 11:06 o’clock on Sundays. He hopes to give the customers the very best there *is in sandwiches. Fenced In As a safety measure, the town commissioners have petitioned the Carthage School Board to, put a fence across the front of the elementary school yard on Elm (street. They have received a fav orable reply. As the volume of traffic in front of the school is now increased there seemed to be some' hazard to the children in crossing the street. In the center of the fence will be a gate through which all the chil dren will be required to pass. The policeman will stand at this point to. see that the children get across the street safely. Hereto fore a few stragglers would cross jat other places than the center in spite of the vigilance of the teachers and the traffic officer. Gates at either end will be open ed for the buses to drive on and off the school ground. NIAGARA Mr. and Mrs. Henry Crane of Portsmouth, Va., are visiting rel atives here this week.
