Mrs. G. E. Walker and Mrs. S. W. Moxely were Monday shoppers in Raleigh. Miss Frances Jackson, spent the weekend of the 29th with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jackson, Miss Jackson returned to W.C.U. N.C. in. Greensboro, where she is a sophomore, Sunday night. Mrs. Besie McLeod visited in Greensboro, with friends Sunday. A birthday party was given to Pauline Williams by Miss Iris Williams at her home. Games were played and enjoyed by all. Robert Peace is home after having served 22 months combat duty overseas. He is on a 60 day furlough, then reports to Fort Bragg for discharge. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Haithcock and son. Teaman, spent Sunday in Troy. The Methodist League enjoyed a covered Dish Supper at Miss Nina McLeod’s home Sunday, night. Miss Diana Cummings had the program for the night. Mr. Bill Garner, and Mr. John Garner, spent Monday in Greens boro. Mr. Billy Evans spent the week-end with Bobby Hart who is a student at Carolina. Mrs. Marcas McAully and dau ghter Brenda, spent Monday with her Mother, Mrs. S. W. Moxely. Misses Dona Rose Hicks, Sara Haithcock, Diana Cummings, were shopers in Greensboro, Thursday. Mr. G. E. Second: To stimulate full par ticipation in local government by the citizens of Moore County through the medium of the ballot box and to that end to encourage the registration of ' all eligible voters. Third: To urge the representa tives of Mioore County in the gen eral assembly to support all measures: (1) looking toward the improvement of farm to market or secondary roads, (2) and pro viding for increase of salaries to the teachers in the public schools. Consideration should be given to the feasibility of increasing teachers' salaries from the gen eral funds of the county. Fourth: To encorage a broader and more far-reaching public health program with enlarged medical and hospital facilities in Moore County. Fifth: To encourage air traffic to and fr-om Moore County and, to that end, to develop and im prove the facilities at Knollwood Field. Sixth; to promote a program for greater safety on the high ways of the county and state. Seventh: To support all efforts made in the establishment in Moore County of the headquar ters on the United Nations. The local group plans a meet ing for October 25th, at which they will be host to the G. I. Democrat Clubs of the Eighth District.
