It was a hard-fought game, es pecially since one of the star players, “Doc” Veno, was unable to play except for a brief period. However, he entered play long enough to score a touchdown. This game was played for the benefit of the Parent-Teacher As sociation and a large crowd of local patrons and from several nearby towns attended. Coach Tilson has been recuperating from an appendectomy ^d Supt. Harbison has worked with the squad during the past several weeks of practice. Up to this writing the team is undefeated. Miss Parker was a member of last year’s faculty at Pinehurst High chool. and Marriage Announced Miss Zella Mae Dove Thomas Vernon Horner were married Sunday, November 3, at Bennettsville, S. C. Mrs. Hbrner, daughter of Mrs. A. H. Dove and the late Reverend Dove of Bla- denboro, and a sister of Mrs. Ha-- veries Land came to Pinehurst in the early fall to open La Dove Beauty Salon in the Harvard building. Mr. Horner is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Floyd Hor ner of Pinehurst. Mr. Horner is employed in the City Barber shop in the Bank building. The couple, on their return from Washington, will be in resi dence in the Wellesley apart ments. Birthday Sylvia Calloway celebrated her 12th birthday Sunday when she was hostess to a few friends. Among those were Marcia Black, Julie McCaskill, Gail Hobson, Martha Cole, Ann Hamor, Joan Wallace, and Carolyn Nelson.
