Smith, chairman, and Mrs. N. N. McLean canvassed the business houses with gratifying success. Four ten-dollar and five five-dollar bonds were sold in ad dition to seals in smaller quan tities. On Wednesday seals were put in the hands of school boys and girls to sell in the homes and to individuals outside the busi ness houses. Indications are that this year’s sale is going to top all previous sales here, persons who fail to get an opportunity to help in this important work are asked to contact the women named above or any pupil of the Vass- Lakeview school, and they will be glad to see that seals are made available. Telephone 5891 Eddy Building Sarah Entertains Sarah Von Metzger celebrated her second birthday Saturday by entertaining a number of her little friends at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Von Metzger (Myrtle McMillan). The children enjoyed playing with Sarah’s toys and found the ice cream and birthday cake very much to their liking. Books of nursery stories were given aS favors, and the little hostess was showered with gifts. Several pic tures of the group were made. Sarah’s guests were Roy Jack- son and Danny McGill of Lake- view, Aileen Payne, A1 Edwards and Emma Oldham. Scout Activities A group of local Boy Scouts, accompanied by Scoutmaster A. G. Edwards, Jr., and A. W. Payne, enjoyed a wiener roast at A. G.’s camp on Little River Friday night. Miss Eloise Brooks returned to Buie’s Creek Sunday after visit ing her mother, Mrs. G. W. Brooks. Mrs. A. M. Cameron ac companied her on the return trip to spend a few days with her rel atives at Buie’s Creek. Miss Ruby Crissman returned to Washington, D. Griffin enjoyed feasting and fishing at Lakeview Thanksgiving Day as guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Griffin. Miss Janet Rosser, a junior at Oberlin Conservatory, recently played in the first violin section in a concert given by the conser vatory orchestra, and she has been selected to play with the Cleve land (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra the ninth of this month. A call was sent to the conservatory for musicians and Janet from the junior class and Ihree seniors were picked for this honhr. Blue, and other members of the family to Durham, where her mother is staying to receive treatment at Duke Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Gladstone enjoyed a Thanksgiving visit with his parents and other rela tives at Greensboro. Miss Ann Fields and David Fields went with them and spent the time with Fields relatives. Mrs. H. A. Cox, and other relatives here, little Sue Cameron Willis left Wednes day night for her home in Onan- cock, Va. Her aunt. Miss Retha Mae Cox, accompanied her and returned Sunday night. Mrs. Ervin Campbell became a Ml-time employee of Smith’s Store this week. Mrs. Arch Blue entered Moore County Hospital Sunday for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Chappell spent Thanksgiving Day in Ra leigh and their daughter, Joanne, who accompanied them, remain ed until Saturday. Leroy Boggs returned last week from Rex Hospital in Ra leigh, where he had one of his eyes straightened, and already his vision is improved.
