Mrs. Flinchum presented Pin In recognition of her service as president of the Women’s Missis- nary Society of the Baptist church for the past two years, Mrs. Fred Flinchum was presented with a gold W. M. S. pin on last Sunday morning at the regular church service. Durihg this two year period the society has become A-1. Of the forty missionary societies of Lee and Moore Counties only three have the A-1, rating. Baptist 'Bible Study Week Beginning Monday of next week and running through Friday night a series of studies will be presented on the Book of Actsiat the church at 7:30, the pasmr, Rev. Ottis J. Hagler, being the teacher. This, study is for the whole church and ccjmmunity and is a part of the Southwide Bible Study for January, for the 25,000 Baptist Churches of the Southern Baptist Convention. Rotary Club At last week’s Rotary Club, which met at McDonald’s Cafe on Thursday, Beal Hargrove of Mc Gregor, 'Texas, spoke informally on his work in the state. He is with an agriculture experiment station of the Texas State Depart ment of Agriculture and is con nected with the Texas A. and M. College. Presbyterian Christmas Party The annual children’s Christ- nias party was held last Friday night in the Sunday school room. A good time was had by all the little folks, and those who were with them and witnessed their pleasure. The expenses of the Christmas tree were underwritten by the Shields Bible Class. The Grace Worth Class had charge of the purchase and wrapping of gifts. The tre^ was given by Mr. Jesse Nunnery. The decorating was done by Mr. P. H. McDonald, Mr. Russell G. Smith, and Mr. P. H. McDonald, Jr. The pianist was Mrs. L. R. Sugg and Mr. W. H. Currie, Superintendent of the Sunday School, presided. The teachers of the classes for the younger children bought the gifts for their classes and wrapped them. An interesting program was given. Brief Mention Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Hagler of Leaksville, N. C., parents of Rev. Ottis J. Hagler, and Mr. G. Fred Agee of Concord, N. C., Mrs. Hagler’s father, were the guests of Rev. and Mrs. Hagler during the Christmas holidays. Miss May Stuart and Miss Bess Stuart spent the Christmas holi days with their niece, Mrs. Eliza beth Savage in Greenville, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Harper Beal and three children of Lenoir, N. C., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Torcassi of Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Ida M. Gee and Mr. and Mrs. Marion Wiggins of Timmonsville, S. C., are spend ing this week with Mr. John Will- cox. Miss Cam Wilcox has returned to New York City where she is studying dramatics. She is to appear in a good part in a play to be produced the Hrst of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hunt of High Pointy. C., Miss Mina Harriss, Miss Mma Harriss of Fayetteville, N. C.And Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. C«ipbell of Pinehurst, Miss Nancy Campbell of High Point, N. C., and Miss Frances Campbell of the Woman’s College were the dinner guests of Mrs. Lucien P. Tyson on Christmas day. Miss Ruth Tyson, Mrs. Lucien P. Tyson and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hunt were the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Campbell in Pine hurst on Monday. Mrs. Margaret Penn has return ed to Fort Bragg after spending Christmas with Mrs. Gillian Brov/n.
