On Christmas Eve, the Chil dren’s Cantata in v/hich the chil dren present the story of tne Ma- tivity, was held in the Village Chapel. GaU Gardner was Mother Church and the choir of small dUfecis was augmented by a vest ed choir of former angels, shep herds and kings, among them Betsy Carter, Mrs. John C. Lyman held their an nual Christmas Eve “At Home” to entertain their friends in the Pinehurst cottage colony and from out of town. Lieut, and Mrs. James E. Har rington entertained members of the younger set of Pinehurst and Southern Pines at a Christmas Eve party at the Southland hotel in Southern Pines. Among parties which have be come annual events of Christmas Day is t,he party which was held at the Moore County hospital for patients and staff, complete with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus to pre sent gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S. Blodgett entertained at their annual egg nog party at the Berkshire at noon on Christmas Day. Mr. and Mrs. Julian T. Bishop were hosts at their Knollwood home at a joint Christmas din ner at which each guest supplied some portion of the dinner. Miss Darst Hyatt entertained at cocktails at her home on Tues day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. T H. McGraw, Jr., entertained friends at dinner on Christmas night. Brief Mention General and Mrs. George C. Marshall spent the Christmas weekend at thejr home, “Lis- combe Lodge.” Mr. and Mrs. Max von Schlegell have as their house guest over the holidays Mrs. Dushane Penniman of Baltimore. Miss Joy Windle arrived on Sunday to spend the holidays with her mother, Mrs. John E. Dixon, and Mr. Dixon. Miss Win dle is a student at Vassar college. Harold Buckminster arrived r.hristmas Day from New York City to visit his mother, Mrs. Tames How, and Mr. How for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Heman Gifford have with them for the holidays their daughter Sally, who is liv ing in Millbrook, N. Y., their other daughter, Ellen, who teaches at the Child Centre in Greenwich, Conn., and their son. Bill, who is with Raiiio Free Eu rope in New York City. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Keating have as guests over the holidays itheir daughter and son-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Robert Ball of Cam bridge, Mass., and their grand daughters, Miss Nancy Ball of Cambridge, and Mrs. James Ode o'aard and Mr. Odesraard and their small daughter, of Montclair, N. J. Lieut. Malcolm McMullen came in on Saturday from Ellington Air Base at Houston, Tex., to visit his mother, Mrs. Cabot McMullen. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Tufts spent Christmas in Charlotte to be with their daughter, Emily, who is in terning at Charlotte Memorial hospital. Mrs. Kenneth Schroeder return ed yesterday from Chicago, where she "Spent Christmas with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Coleman. Sgt Schroeder joined his wife for a few days’ leave from Battle Creek, Mich., where he is stationed. Mr. and Mrs. Rudolpho Ven turi left Tuesday for their home in Middletown, N. Y., after spend ing Christmas with Mrs. Venturi’s father, George T. Dunlap, and Mrs. Dunlap. Miss Pearl McNeill of Winston- Salem spent Christmas with her sister, Mrs. I. C. Sledge, and Mr. Sledge. Capt. and Mrs. John C. Wall- man who have been at the Berk shire over Christmas, returned to Ft. Benning, Ga., on 'Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Chapman and son, Dixie, returned on Tues day from Philadelphia, where they visited Mrs. Chapman’s mother. ' Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stevens returned yesterday following a visit to New England. The Rev. and Mrs. Francis Drake and their daughter. Daphne, leave today for New York City where they will spend the New Year’s holiday. Mrs. H. Frederick Lesh is leav ing today for Boston, where she •j^ill spend several weeks. ’ Mrs. Davidge Voorhis of New York City is visiting her sister, Mrs. W. A. Leland McKeithen, and Mr. McKeithen over the hol idays. Mrs. McKeithen’s mother, Mrs. Benjamin Weldon of Mid dletown, N. Y., has leased the former James ’Tufts house for the winter season and is now in res idence there with her house guest, Mrs. Richard Knight, also of Mid dletown. ■ Mrs. James Walker returns to day from Amesbury, Mass., where she visited her son Robert Eckert and Mrs. Eckert. Midshipman Edgar Currie is spending the holidays with his mother, Mrs. Donald Currie. Miss Dorothy Cheney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. True Cheney, is spending Ibe holidays with friends in California. PINEBLUFF By Mrs. Ehrman Pickier Girl Scout Party 'The Girl Scouts of Troop 31 held their Christmas party December 15, in the Home Demonstration building. After several games were play ed, presents were exchanged. Refreshments of cake, ice cream, drinks and candy were served to the 11 members and one visitor, Mrs. Charles L. Warner. Anthony-Maness Miss Pauline Maness, daughter of Mr .and Mrs .Frank Maness of Highfalls, and Joseph Anthony of Thomaston, Ga., were married in a simple ceremony on Saturday af ternoon at the home of Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Parsons. The living room was decorated with Christ mas colors. The double ring ceremony was performed by Dr. Parsons. After a short wedding trip the young couple will be at home in Carthage. Holiday Guests Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Pope and son of St. Augustine, Fla., and Le- Roy Van Boskerck, Rt. 1, and Mrs. Van Boskerck and children of Pensacola, Fla., were holiday guests of Mrs. A. L. Van Boskerck. Mrs. George Williams of Che- raw, S. C., is visiting in the home of her Son Claude Williams and Mr. Williams. Miss Alma Edwards and Late W. Edwards of near Carthage were guests of Dr. and Mrs. W. A. Parsons Friday. Miss Edwards is a weU known teacher, having been dean of women at Queens college, Charlotte, for many years. ^ Mr. and Mrs. 'Thomas Lampley and children of Durham visited Mr. Lampley’s mother, Mrs. J.
