MAY 28. 1954 High Schools Schedule Events 300 Graduating In Moore County Seniors Receiving Diplomas As Finals Programs Are Held Nearly three hundred students will receive dheir diplomas at high school graduation exercises in Moore county this year. See front page story today for Southern Pines commencement events. The commencement exercises started last Thursday at the Car thage high school when the senicrs presented their annual class night. The baccalaureate sermon will be delivered on Sun day evening, May 30, in the high school auditorium by the Rev. O. J. Hagler, pastor of the Carthage Baptist church. On Tuesday eve ning, June 1, the graduation exer cises will be held. Commencement exercisese be gan in the Pinehurst high school Tuesday evening when the seniors gave their class play in the school auditorium. The baccalaureate sermon will take place on Sunday evening. May 30, at eight o’clock in the school auditorium and will be delivered by Dr. Bernard Boyd of the University of North Caro lina. Farm Life will begin its com mencement program on Friday evening, May 28, with the annual music recital which will be held in the school auditorium at 8 o’clock. The baccalaureate sermon will be delivered on Sunday eve ning, May 30, at 8 o’clock. Class night will be observed on Tuesday evening, June 1, and graduatioh exercises held on Wednesday, June 2. The commencement program at Robbins began on Sunday night. May 23, with the annual baccal aureate sermon which was deliv ered by the Rev. J. ,C. Meigs of Polkton and was held in the grammar school auditorium. Grad uation exercises will be Friday night. May 28, with I. G. Greer as the speaker. The graduation exercises began at Aberdeen on Sunday, May 23, when the baccalaureate sermon was preached in the Page Mem orial Methodist church with the Rev. C. W. Worth delivering the message. Class night took place on Thursday evening. May 27, in the high school gymnasium. The graduation exercises will be held on May 31 in the school gymna- siurii at 8 o’clock. Commencement exercises'began at Highfalls last Friday evening with the annual music recital. The baccalaureate sermon took place on Sunday evening and class night was presented on Tuesday evening. The graduation exercises will be held on Friday evening, May 28, with Dr. S. C. Deskins, head of the department of history at High Point college, making the literary address. The Rev. The action was taken by the board on the suggestion of H. E. Frye Of the Frye Exterminating Service of Sanford. A license to operate in the city will cost $50, examination fee will be $10 and a $1,000 performance bond will be required.
