Zaremba To Perform
At Flora Macdonald
Sylvia Zaremba, brilliant and
already famous young concert
pianist, will be presented in re
cital at Flora Macdonald College,
Red Springs, on Thursday eve
ning, November 4, at 8:15, in the
course of her seventh transconti
nental tour. The concert is open
to the public.
Despite her youth. Miss Zarem
ba is today a veteran of the con
cert stage—she has made over 40
appearances with great symphony Jane Harris
orchestras, including six with the
New York Philharmonic.
Her program at Flora Macdon
ald will include compositions of
Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Bartok,
Ravel and four of hCopin’s.
The October 1, forecast for cot
ton production in North Carolina
is an exp^ted production of 365,-
000 bales, a nine per cent reduc
tion from earlier estimates.

Miss Jane Harris Owen of
Robbins Senior 4-H Club will
represent Moore County at the
1954 State Farm and Home Elec
tric Congress to be held Novem
ber 1 and 2 at Hotel Charlotte in
Charlotte.
Miss Owen, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. eBn Owen of Route 2,
Seagrcve, is the Moore County
4-H winner in the Farm and
Home Electric Project. The con
test is sponsored by , Carolina
Power and Light Company for
this section.
In completing the requirements
for this project Miss Owen made
a study cf electricity and its many
uses in the home. She made a
lamp, made and repaired exten
sion cords and is in the process of
wiring an old kerosene lamp for
use in the home.
She is finding many uses for
the information learned in this
project and is “looking forward
to a wonderful time at Electric
Congress,” said Mrs. Ruth Muse
assistant home agent and 4-H
Club adviser.
