McDon ald of Pinehursjt observed their 45th wedding anniversary Sun day. They were given a surprise picnic dinner at the home of Mrs. Carl Kivett, Sr., in Carthage by their daughters and sons-in-law, Mr.-and Mrs. Carl Kivett, Jr., Mrs Tiny Fritts, and Mr. and Mrs. George Blanchard. Mrs. McDon ald was presented an orchid, and Mr. McDonald a red carnation. The grandchildren gave them a large cake topped with a bride and groom and inscribed ‘‘Happy 45th Wedding Anniversary,” and they received many other nice gifts and cards. Present to celebrate with the honored^ couple were: Mr. and Mrs. Jo'hn Frye, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Turnage, West End; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ferguson and grandson, and Lock Guin, South ern Pines; Mrs. Blennie McDon ald. Mrs. Alice McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Archie McDonald and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ellis, Pinehurst; Miss Frances Presley Carthage; Mr. and Mrs. James Kivett and daughter, Mrs. Carl Kivett. Sr., Carthage; Mr. and Mrs. George Blanchard, Raleigh; and the seven grandchildren, Sha ron, Ann and Machonne Kivett, Merivel, Skippy and Marty Fritts, and George McDonald Blandch- ard. Mr. and Mrs. Roland MacKen- zie left Tuesday for their home in Ccckeysville, Md. Members of George T. Dunlap. Sr.’s family are here this weekend for the celebration of Mr. Dun lap’s 91st birthday on Saturday. Visiting him and Mrs. Dunlap are Mr. eind Mrs. George T. Dunlap, Jr., of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Nesbitt returned Tuesday to Philadelphia, Pa., after spending the month of April here. Mr. and Mrs. William Johnston of Asheboro spent last weekend as the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Tufts. Mrs. Tliomas. H. McGraw, Jr., left here Tuesday to return to her Oakmont, Pa., home for the sum mer. Octave Blake left Monday in his plane for South Plainfield, N, J. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wolff re turned to their home in Pitts burgh, Pa., on Tuesday. Weekend house guests of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Harrington, Jr., .were Capt. and Mrs. Jack Mathis of Shelby. Mrs. Morrison B. Orr, who spent the month of April as a guest at the Carolina Hotel, has returned, to Piqua, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Isham C. Sledge left Wednesday for Ithaca, N. Y., where they will attend the Hotel Ezra Cornell weekend as guests of their son, William> C. Sledge, a student at the School of Ho-tel Administration, Comqll, who, as a member of the Board of Directors, is serving as Maitre ^d’Hotel for HEC. Mr. and Mrs. William Wilson left Thursday for York Harbor.
