North Carolina PAGE NINE Cameron Club Mrs. Clovis McDonald is one club member that never says “I can’t do it.” She always says, “I’ll do my best.” She is our club lead er in education and family life and does a wonderful job at both. One visit in her happy home shows the results of her efforts for it is truly a happy family. Lucile, as she is known to club members and friends, has thi\ee small children, two in school. With her house work, the baby to keep and the pigs and chickens to look after, she finds time to make the goal of reading the club books. HoUy Club j The October meeting of the Mt. I Holly Club was with Mrs. R. B. Moore as hostess. Eight members answered roll call. Our attendance has been high, considering the busy season for our farm wpmen. Miss Flora McDonald gave an in teresting lesson on “Slip Covers.” We wonder if it would be as easy and simple for us as it was for Miss McDonald. We are proud that the member going to National Council Meek ing in Chicago came from Mt. Holly Club. We are anxious to hear Mrs. W. A. Gaines tell of her trip. Hamilton announce the birth of a son, James William, On Wednes day, October 5, at Moore County Hospital. Circle Meets , Circle No. 1 of the Pinebluff Methodist Church met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. P. B. Paris with eight members present. Mrs. I. L. Meaner presided over the business. They were en route to Florida. Mrs. John H. Carpenter and daughter, Marsha Lynn, are spending several days this week with Mrs. Carpenter’s grandmoth er, Mrs. Pearl Bullard, in Cheraw. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Mangum spent Sunday in Charlotte with Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Edwards. Misses Judy and Paula Edwards returned home, with them after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Mangum and Mrs. Ethel Ed wards. Mrs. Preston Brooks and son Paul visited their aunt, Mrs. J. M. Hodge, and Mr. Hodge in Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Adams of Raleigh were guests Sunday of her brother, W. K. Carpenter, Sr., and Mrs. Carpenter. Congressmen C. B. Deane call ed on friends in Pinebluff Wed nesday and Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Baker, Jr., of Edenton spent the weekend with his parents. Mrs. Ethel Edwards visited her sister, Mrs. J. S. Hoffman, in Charlotte last . Sunday. Mrs. John Fiddner, Sr., Mrs. Joseph Schack, Mrs. Howard Troutman and Mrs. Earl Lampley spent Wednesday in Greensboro with Mr. and Mrs. Luther Mc Donald. Mrs. Schack remained for a visit. Miss Shirley "Tyner of Raleigh was at home for the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wade H. Tyner. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Leavitt of Raleigh visited their parents last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brooks and Terry Brooks of Albemarle were guests Sunday of Mrs. Brooks’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Leav itt. Lard becomes rancid through exposure to air.
