Day Festival Program At Aberdeen
Some 40 exhibits by merchants,
State agencies, the armed forces
and youth organizations are in
cluded in the two-day Fsirmers
Day Festival that opens in Aber
deen Friday, sponsored by the
Junior Chamber of Commerce
there.
Headquarters of the Festival
and location of the exhibits is
the Hardee Warehouse on No. 1
highway, south of Aberdeen. A

Dies Wednesday;
Services Today
Walton Worth MhLeod, 43, of
Carthage, died unexpectedly
Wednesday afternoon at Moore
County Hospital after a few
hours’ illness.
Mr. McLeod was born in Lil-
lington, a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Walton McLeod of Harnett Coun
ty. He operated the courthouse
square service station here for
' several years. For the past two
years he was in tbe tire recapping
business.
Survivors include his wife, the
former Edith Bain who is a pub
lic health nurse with the Moore
County Health Department; his
another, two sisters, Mrs. Wade
Boggs, Jr., Richmond, Va. and
Miss Jackie McLeod, also of
Richmond, and one brother,
Blake McLeod, Atlanta, Ga.
Funeral services were to be
held from the home at 5 p. m.
today (Thursday), with burial in
Cross Hill Cemetery.

house and a rodeo will be held
there at 8 p. m. Friday—the first
scheduled event on the two-day
program.
Saturday’s program will open
with a parade at 11 a. m., to be
followed by a free meal at noon,
served in the warehouse.
Other events of Saturday: band
concert, 1:30 p. m.; rides and dis
play of exhibits, 2:30-7:30 p. m.;
drawing for free prizes, 9 p. m.;
square dance, 9:30 p. m.; buck
dance contest, 10:30 p. m.; and
drawing for grand prize, 11 p. m.
Some 20 of the business estab
lishments having exhibits are
also giving prizes. In addition to
about 30 business exhibits, there
will be booths sponsored by the
Army, Navy and Air Force; the
Aberdeen Future Farmers, Fu
ture Homemakers and Boy
Scouts; the Moore County Wild
life Club (see a separate story in
today’s Pilot); forest rangers, and
a Highway Patrol safety exhibit.
