Wil son of Lumberton, are the pa rents of a daughter, Patricia Jean, bom Sunday, April 29, in the Lee County Hospital. Mrs. Wilson is the former Laura Sue Thomas of Carthage. Carthage Girl Is Pianist Miss Margaret Grimm of Car thage, student at Meredith Col lege in Raleigh, was one of the pianists in the May Day pageant Saturday in the Meredith College Court. Miss Grimm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Grimm, was a tal ented student of Mrs. M. G. Dal- rymple during her school days in Carthage. In May Day Event Miss Flora Mclver of New Or leans, La., was one of the beau ties in the St. Mary’s Junior Col lege May Day events, Saturday afternoon, in Raleigh. Miss Mclver, who will graduate in June, is the daughter of Alton Mclver, Jr., of Louisiana, a for mer native of Carthage. She is a niece of Msr. Charles A. Cox and Mrs. R. G. Wallace. Mrs. Curtis M. Muse accompan- ed Miss Rose Miller to Raleigh Monday for the day. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh W. Jackson went to Chapel Hill Sunday to attend Parents’ Day. Their son Don is a student in the Univer sity. H. G. McLean and son Keith of Burlington visited Mrs. W. L. McLean Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Worth McDonald spent the weekend with Mrs. Mc Donald’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Morrison in Jamesville, and attended the May Day exercise at Appalachian State Teachers’ Col lege at Boone, on Saturday. Miss Jeah Clark of East Caro lina College was at home for the weekend to visit her father, Claude Clark, who is a patient at Moore County Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Me Donald, Jr., were in Robbins over Sunday with her mother, Mrs McDuffie. Mrs. McDonald’s brother. Bill McDuffie, was in jured in a car accident last week in Flint, Mich., and Dr. McDuf fie had gone to Michigan to be with his son, who Ipst an arm in the wreck. Mrs. Lynn McLean was in Chapel Hill Sunday lor Parents Day. Her son Jerry is a student in the school of pharmacy at the University. Mrs. W. L. McLean returned home Friday from a two weeks’ visit to her daughter, Mrs. Dave Tobin, in Charlotte. Mrs. Laura Blue Morton of Ra leigh was here lor the weekend with her brother, Dolph Blue, Legal Notices Little River Farm Horses Winning At Roosevelt Raceway Trotting horses owned by Eu gene dePasquale of Little River Farm near Southern Pines haye been among the consistent win ders at Roosevelt Raceway in New York this season. According to Mrs. George Jew ett, whose husband ^is superin tendent of the huge farm on the Carthage Highway, Little River horses have been among the out standing entries in harness racing at the New York track. So far, three of the horses have been winners and several have been consistently “in the money.’’ Easter Dawn, a three-year-old gelding, has been the biggest winner for Little River to date, although two others. Lady Titan and Casanova, have won top money. Mrs. Jewett said this week that 16 horses from the farm were sent to New York this year, inclu ding several colts who are qual ifying this week in preparation for regular starts next week. Little River Girl, a three-year old and the first horse ever born at Little River, will probably’ start next week, she said. Mrs. Jewett also said that Mor ris McDonald, head trainer, and Don White, assistant are quite pleased so far with the results at Roosevelt. When the track closes in June the horses will be trans ferred to Yonkers where they will remain until the season closes in November. Mr. and Mrs. John Kiker and sons, Joel and Jerry, of Dayton, Ohio, arrived Saturday for a visit with Mrs. Kiker’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. McDonald. Mrs. Kiker will be here for several days while he is away on a busi ness trip. Mrs. George A. Wallace and children, Sandy and Margaret, of Philadelphia, Pa., are visiting her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Golden, at their new home on Sunset Drive. Mrs. J. K. Roberts and grand son. Daniel Roberts, Jr., with Mrs. Daniel Roberts were in Wil mington for the weekend with Mr, Roberts, to attend the opening of the Roberts Furniture Store. Mrs. M. J. McPhail was the guest of the Rev. and Mrs George Blount in Louisburg Thursday and Friday. Mrs. Mac McDonald of Colum bia, S. C., was a weekend guest in the home of P. H. McDonald and family, returning to Colum bia Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Simpson spent the weekend in Wilming ton with Mr .and Mrs. Daniel Roberts and attended the formal opening of the Roberts Furniture Store, Friday night. Members of the family of the late Worth Wt. McLeod here Thursday for the funeral services were his two sisters, Mrs. Wade Boggs, Jr., and Miss Jackie Me Leod of Richmond, Va.; his moth er, Mrs. Wilton McLeod of Lil lington; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bain of Jacksonville; Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Proctor and two chil dren of Durham, and a large number of relatives and friends from Durham and Lillington.
