A practice alert in preparation for a forthcoming nationwide civil defense exercise will be held by Fort Bragg some time during the period 25 May to 5 June, Fort Bragg officials told the Pilot this week. When the alert is given for the one-day exercise, sirens will sound throughout the post. Sirens will be sounded again at the con clusion of the alert. Fort Bragg officials have stress ed that this will be a practice alert with sirens used only to add realism and there will be no cause for alarm. The exercise will be part of the preparation for “Operation Alert 1956,’’ a nationwide alert schedul ed by the Federal Civil Defense Administration to be held some time between July 20-26. When the sirens sound on the day of the Bragg alert, troops will move to dispersal areas and exe cute area defense to. simulate ac tual attack conditions. They will remain in the dispersal areas un til the all-clear signal is given.
