TRAVEL Asked; Conspiracy To Defame Alleged A $50,000 civil suit has been instituted in Moore Superior Court by- Mrs. Valerie Nicholson of Southern Pines, charging Vin cent J. Daly, Miss Edwina Hall man and Mrs. Martha Dixon Un derwood with a conspiracy to de fame her character and drive her out of her profession as a newspa per reporter. Notice of intention to enter the suit was given a few weeks ago, but the complaint it self had not previously been filed. Mrs. Nicholson was the prose cuting witness in a criminal action in Moore recorders court April 24, in which Daly was found guilty of criminal libel in sending false and malicious defamatory material about her to four newspaper edi tors. The civil complaint has been served on the female defendants. The male defendant, however, left the State four days after the crim inal trial and has not returned. The usual 30-day period for an swering the suit has been extend ed till September 15, on agree ment of both sides, as one of the defense lawyers is leaving soon to be away for the summer. Says All Took Part In the civil suit Mrs. Nicholson alleges that the material sent to the editors was part of an unlaw ful and malicious conspiracy in which Daly, who practiced as a psychologist in Southern Pines, and his two staff members all took part, over a period of weeks. In the complaint, Mrs. Nichol son claims that “on or about’’ Feb ruary .11, Miss Hallman and Mrs. Underwood, with Daly present, swore to defamatory statements against her before a notary public, knowing them to be untrue; that n OCTOFEN for ATHLETE'S FOOT REPLACE YOUR4 REGULAR WRISTWATCH WITH AN INEXPENSIVE STURDY ONE FOR YOUR VACATION 95 PLUS I PJROTEQT YOURiETES ^NOGLAIR inexpensive r PROTECTION ' i POLAROID $09.8 GLARE ABSORBENT LENSES SLEEVE 19 EVEREADY FLASHLIGHTS k ANO W C WITHOUT BAHERIES TRIP-. • FROM 6^ •9 |95 I GRANTLY Z SMARITY'STYIED WATERPROOF FROM FIRST AID «6^50 AUTO KIT p3 HOWLAND ,R < SWIM’^APS UITEST STYLES t A«t0H> 125 AUTOMOBILE BABY BOTTLE WARMER BY «095 HANKSCRAFT ^3^ BEFORE YOUR TRIP BE SURE THAT BABY HAS FRESH SUPPLIES OF THE BRANDS OF YOUR CHOICE.
