pick up her sons who are week
ending with their grandmother in
Asheville, after - spending two
weeks at Camp Elliott at Old
Fort.
Lt. Ralph L. Horner and Lt.
James E. Harrington, Jr., leave
Sunday for Camp Stewart, Ga.,
where they will spend two weeks

Mr. and Mrs. John S. Zelie re
turned home Wednesday after a
vacation in Colorado.
Mrs. Richard S. Tufts is back
at her home here after a trip to
Canada and the West Coast.
Dr. J. A. Ruggles is spending
two weeks in the North.
Mrs. Howard Stewart left Wed
nesday for New York City where
she saw her mother and sister off
to Europe, then went to Sea Girt
to join her husband for a fort
night.
Mrs. S. T. Stevens, her sisters,
Mrs. Willard Dunlap and Mrs.
Pauline Tuck, and their children
are going to Myrtle Beach, S. C.,
for two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Edson
Donie and Cal have returned
from a vacation in Myrtle Beach,
S. C., and a visit with Mrs.‘Ed^
son’s parents in Forest City.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Rem
ington leave their Ohio home
next week for a vacation at Nan
tucket.
Mrs. Stella Bishoff, her son,
John Putnam and grandson, Jim
my Putnami, of Antwerp, Ohio
are visiting her daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James
G. Gilbert.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Horner
spent last weekend with his aunt
in Roanoke, Va.
Mrs. Ethel Miner arrives to
night by plane from St. Louis
Mo., for a two months’ stay with
her son and daughter-in-law, Mr
and Mrs. Paul Miner.

whose wife, Gladys, lives in
Manly, is scheduled to leave the
United States August 20 for Eu
rope as part of Operation Gyro
scope, the Army’s unit rotation
plan.
Sergeant Whisenand is a mem-|
her of the 8th Infantry Division,
which has been stationed at Fort
Carson, Colo., and is replacing
the 9th Infantry Division in Ger
many.
The sergeant is a platoon ser-
geant in Tank Company of the di
vision’s 13th Regiment. He enter
ed the Army in 1940. "Whisenand j
holds the Purple Heart.
