The book, nfost recent to come from the prolific pen of Wellman, is the story of some Enfield na tive sons who went to war in the 1860’s, of some who came back and some who didn’t. It is the story of the ordinary soldier who did the fighting and, .according to advance notices from the publisher and Mr. Wellman, steers clear of the glamorous gen erals and the other personalities that war writers usually write a- bout. Wellman, who formerly made his home in Pinebluff and took part in a number of affairs in Southern Pines and the rest of the Sandhill area, is now living in Chapel Hill. Enfield, incidentally, is a small town located near Rocky MounJ and Tarborb.
