The Moore County Poultry
Show will be held at the High
falls School gymnasium Satur
day, September 15, it was an
nounced today by Fleet D. Allen,
county agent.
The program will get under
way at 8 a. m. with the entry of
broilers and eggs, followed by
the judging of exhibits and the
announcement of the winners.
From 11:30 to 12:30, show offi
cials have scheduled a sale of 4-H
Club pullets at auction.
A community club f)rogram
will begin immediately after the
pullet auction.
Allen said a number of cash
awards would be made for broil
ers in age classes from five
weeks to 10 weeks, with a top
prie in each entry of $8.
Prizes have also been set up
for entries in the egg show.
Four County Men
Enlist In USAF
Staff Sergeant Samuel G. Bur-
gin, local Air Force recruiter, has
announced the enlistment in the
Air Force of four men from this
area during August.
James W. Dupree of Pinehurst
and William C. Obshear of Cam
eron were re-enlistees, Sgt. Bur-
gin said, and were cj^nt to the
base of their choice.
The other two, Willie E. Wil
liamson of Carthage and Walton
D. Smith of Sotuhern Pines were
! sent to Lackland Air Force aBse,
I San Antonio, Texas, for basic
training.
Chickens hatched by commer
cial hatcheries in North Carolina
during July amounted to 9, 075,-
000, according to the North Caro
lina Crop Reporting Service
This was a record hatch for the
month, and it was 10.6 per cent
above the preyious high of 8,205,-
000 attained in July of 1955.

Archery Tournament of the
Southern Archery Association at
Brevard this past weekend.

Pines High School, shot a score of
1206 for the tournament, which
was held on the campus of Bre
vard College.
Archers from 12 states in the
association took part in the tour
nament, held Saturday and Sun
day.
