Women Recruits
Needed, AF Says
A new officer procurement
plan designed to appeal to a larg
er and more varied group of
women has been adopted by the
Women’s Air Force, according to
S|Sgt. Samuel G. Burgin, local
Air Force recruiter.
Sgt. Burgin pointed out that
the eligibility requirement for
attending WAF officer candidate
schools has been reduced to in
clude WAF members with high
school diplomas and civilian ap
plicants with two years of col
lege training.
Qualified women who are col
lege graduates are now being
selected for direct commissions.
Sgt. Burgin stated that there
currently is a shortage of WAF
officers, and urged all women of
this area interested in a career in
the WAF to contact him at the
Southern Pines postoffice every
’Thursday from 9:30 to 12 for full
details.
A cotton-tipped Swab stick is
a handy tool for cleaning the
dust and dirt from under the
number plate on a dial tele
phone.
