M. Innes. Brief Mention Mrs. Heman Gifford arrived Monday from Millbrook, N. Y., to occupy her home, Little Brick House, for the winter season. Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Lover ing left Tuesday for Darlington, Md., where they are spending Thanksgiving with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Cor nelius N. Bliss, Jr. Another daughter, Mrs. Everett Allen, and Mr. Allen of Harrisburg, Pa., will join the family in Maryland for the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Aborn returned to their Linden Road cottage last week after summer ing in New Jersey and Connect icut. With them for the weekend was their daughter, Mrs. F. H. Peckham, of Putnam Heights, Conn. Mrs. Frederick C. Page leaves Sunday for a few days in New York City. Mr. and Mrs. James W. Tufts spent last weekend in Maryland on a visit with their son, Robin, who is a student at St. James School. Mrs. Morrison B. Ken- PUBLIC NOTICE public notice is hereby given that the Town Council of the Town of Southern Pines do enact an ordinance amending the Build ing Code ordinance relative to awnings and signs as follows: BE IT ORDAINED AND ESTAB LISHED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF SOUTHERN PINES AT REG ULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED THIS THE 13 th DAY OF NO VEMBER, 1956, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. In Chapter N (Build ing Code) include and add a Sec tion 32 to read as follows: Section 32. That no person shall erect, project or suspend over the sidewalks of the Town, or any portion thereof, any sign, shed, awning or oth er structure, unless same shall be erected under the supervis ion of the Building Inspector and except upon written building permit issued by the Building Inspector. Any such sign, shed, awning or other structure shall be securely fastened, and shall be not less than seven feet above the sidewalk at any point. Existing violations will be given twenty-four (24) months to comply from the date of the adoption of this ordinance. Section H. In Chapter J (Pub lic Nuisances) delete Section * 4 (Awnings and Signs Over Side walk). Section HI- Any person violat ing any of the provisions of this Ordinance shaU upon conviction thereof be subject to either a fine of not more than $50.00 or impris onment not exceeding 30 days, or both. Each and every days viola tion of this ordinance shall consti tute a separate offense. Section IV. Adopted this the 13th day of November, 1956. VOIT GILMORE, Mayor. New grading regulations re quire that each pemut in the farmer’s official test sample for grade must be split and exam ined by the inspector.
