An active member of Sandhill
civic life, Mr. Burroughs has re
cently headed up a successful
fund drive for Boy Scouts in this
Etrea. He is an active member of
the Sandhill Kiwanis Club and
the Pinehurst Country Club.
He is a member of the Moore
County Business Development
Committee and has been largely
responsible for assembling and
evaluating data about the county
for a brochure that will be pub
lished soon.
He expects to remain at Amer
otron during the transition
period.
Succeeding him will be R. A.
Austin of New York, who has
been the assistant controller in
charge of Amerotron’s New York
operations. Joe Sandlin, who has
also been an assistant controller
at Aberdeen, will continue in his
same position. The operations of
the division will be more spread
between the two offices.
Chester J. Terrill, another of
the assistant controllers of
the Amerotron Corporation, has
resigned his position, effective
December 1. Mr. Terrill, who
lives in Southern Pines, has been
active in St. Anthony’s Catholic
Church as president of the Lay-
naen’s Association and as chair
man of a Boy Scout troop at the
church.
Prior to coming to Southern
Pines in June 1955, he was with
Amerotron in Anderson, S. C.,
and earlier with Textron in Prov
idence, R. I.
Burroughs was vice-president
and secretary of Reeves Brothers
Textile Company for six years
prior to his joining Amerotron.
Before that he was secretary-
treasurer of Burlington Mills In
ternational Corporation in charge
of the financial end of the com
pany’s foreign operation, and as
sistant treasurer of the parent
company, Burlington Mills Cor
poration.
For 10 yeare he also had head
ed up the accounting end of the
domestic operation of Burlington
Mills.
A native of Greensboro, Mr.
Burroughs recently completed a
home at Pinehurst, where he is
retiring to. He owns a lodge-
motel in St. Petersburg, Florida,
which he will also be able to de
vote more time to, though he has
no plans to actively manage it

Cured Tobacco Cooperative
Stabilization Corporation, total
flue-cured supply is now estima
ted at 3,588 million pounds, a
record high that represents 2.9
years’ usings based on current
rate of disappearance.' Supplies
are normally balanced at about
1-2 years’ disappearance and
with domestic consumption going
down as it has for the past three
years, it became more important
that production be brought in
line before the supply situation
becomes over-burdening.
