Prim received a scholarship worth $500 for his first year of study; Creed was granted a Tex tron Foundation scholarship as a result of the talent for service corripetition. Principal purpose of the awards is to recognize top rank ing graduates of the State’s high schools who need some assistance to attend college. The Develop ment Council launched the schol arship program four years ago when it learned that less than one third of the State’s most tal ented high school graduates at tend college, while there are six to 10 jobs open to each State Col lege graduate at this time. “Talent for Service” commit tees in each of the state’s 100 counties accept and screen the recommend applicants from each high school for final pro cessing.
