The youth, Ray Baldwin, was captured Saturday night by Southern Pnies policemen as he was driving a 1956 automobile from the Phillips Motor Company. The youth, according to Sgt. Ger ald Wright and Patrolman Robert Yontsfhad opened the doors of the garage from the inside and, with out turning on the lights of the car, had started driving out. The two policemen, on routine duty checking business establish ments, were there when Baldwin drove out. The youth jumped from the car and ran but was caught as he scrambled into a ditch. Chief C. E. Newton said the youth was also wanted here for questioning in connection with the theft of Army pistols from the home of Brig. Gen. Pearson Meno- her in Knollwood. On a previous escape from Marston, Baldwin had obtained a job working in Gen. Menoher’s yard. Police had picked him up and returned him to the training schooL Later, the pistols were found to be inissing from Gen. Menoher’s garage. When questioned after being captured this weekend, Baldwin said he had been to New York after escaping. In the pieantime, police said, he had turned 16 and was thus ineligible to retxuti to the scbooL He was placed in jail after waiving a preliminary hear ing on the auto larceny charge. His 14-year old brother, from Aberdeen, was waiting for him at the door of the garage, police said, and was captured and turned over to juvenile authorities.
