{ / [/ Page SIX THE PILOT-^Souihern Pines, North Carolina THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1957 Tally Points Out ii ' Inconsistency In Foreign Policy The moral position taken by the United States in supporting the United Nations resolution calling for withdrawal of British, French and Israeli troops from the Suez zone was correct. But our failure to back up the UN in condemning the Russian inva sion of Hungary shortly there after revealed the inconsistency of our foreign policy, Joseph Tally, Fayetteville attorney, told members of the Sandhills Ki- wanis Club at their meeting last week in the Southern Pines Country Club. Such inconsistency is danger ous, Mr. Tally said. He saw in the former action a step in the right direction in international affairs in the latter, a deterrent. “We can’t wm the cold war, nor prevent a hot war in this way,” he said. Mr. Tally, trustee of Kiwanis International with its 4,000 clubs, end more than 100,000 members in the U. S. and Canada, sees these two- countries wielding a tremendous force for freedom and justice in the world. Kiwan- ians, he said, have a great oppor tunity to inform the millions of people on the North American continent of this influence. “If they learn the truth, they’ll follow the truth. We ,can set the v/orld an example. LoVe of liber ty in the hearts of all mmn and v/omen is the most powerful weapon in the world,” he con cluded. The former mayor of Fayette ville was presented to the club by Lament Brown, solicitor of Moore County Recorder’s Court. HOW'S THAT?
