Page SIXTEEN THE PILOT—Soulhern. Pines, North Carolina THURSDAY. FEBRUARY 28. 1957 P Officials Believe Rifle Bullet Led To Power Failure A power failure that affected Southern Pines, Vass and Cam eron Monday night was caused by a broken insulator that may have been broken by a rifle bul let, company officials have re ported. The power went off shortly after 11 o’clock and was restored about 40 minutes later. The trouble was traced to an insula tor on Ridge Street and Connect icut Avenue. * Company officials here said that a close examination of the insulator led them to believe it had been shot with a rifle. Due to a crack in the insulator rain had seeped inside and caused the insulator to burn to pieces. Another power failure Tues day morning, which lasted about 35 minutes, was traced to a faul ty insulator on Bennett Street at Pennsylvania Avenue. Ward Hill, manager of the local office, said “normal wear” had caused the insulator to break down. The northwestern section of Southern Pines was the only area affected. HONORED John F.
