Bird Sanctuary . . . Last week
at the request of the governing
authorities of the Town of Rob
bins I introduced a bill making
that town a bird sanctuary. This
bill was similar to the one pre
viously introduced to make Cam
eron a bird sanctuary.
Vass Bills ... On Tuesdhy at
the request of the governing au
thorities of the Town of Vass I
introduced a bill which would;
1, Establish the center point of
the Town of Vass; 2, Provide that
the Mayor and Tpwn Commis
sioners shall take office at the
first regular Board meeting fol
lowing their election; 3, Provide
that with the meeting of the
Town Commissioners in July,
1957, each Commissioner shall
receive for his attendance at each
regular Board meeting the sum
of five dollcirs and the Mayor
shall receive for his attendance
at each regular Board meeting
the sum of ten dollars, but said
sums shall not be paid for at
tending more than one regular
Board meeting in any one month.
Robbins Community Building .
. . Upon request of the governing
authorities of the Town of Rob
bins I introduced a bill on Tues
day which will permit the Town
Commissioners to lease the Com
munity Building there without
advertising or receiving public
bids. I am told that a corporation
wishes to lease it for manufactur-

Clairvoyance ... It has been
suggested to me that Moore
County should be included
among the several coimties
which prohibit the practice of
clairvoyance or fortime telling.
I am seriously considering offer
ing such a bill for Moore County.
Aberdeen. . . For the Town of
Aberdeen I introduced last week
a bill which provides that any
qualified voter of Sandhill Town
ship is eligible for election as re
corder and prosecuting attorney
of the Aberdeen Recorder’s
Court. The bill also provides that
any qualified elector of Sand
hill Township is eligible for ap
pointment as vice-recorder.
Not Passed . . . None of these
bills have been pased and rati
fied and if there is objection to
them I want the people to let me
know immediately. Now, as in
the past, I shall publicize all bills
before they are passed and if the
people think any unwise I cer
tainly will be glad to hear from
them now and not after they
have been ratified and are law.
Doings . . . This is a big week
in the General Assembly, Mon
day night the joint Appropria
tions Committee was briefed re
garding the money which the
state , spends on our public
schools. The total output for our
public schools is about 66 per
cent of the general fund revenue
and appropriations.
On 'Tuesday the Appropriations
Committees heard represents
tives of the State School Board
at an oveiflow meeting in the
