Music Club
Miss RozeUe Williamson and
Mrs. M. T. Stewart were joint
hostesses to the Carthage Music
Club Friday night at the home of
Miss Williamson, on Elm street.
With the president, Mrs. M. T
Stewart, presiding, the meeting
was opened with the club song
and collect. The chaplain, Mrs.
John Cline, led the prayer.
In the absence of the secretary,
Mrs. H. Lee Thomas, Mrs. L. R.
Sugg read the minutes. Roll call
showed 15 members present.
A program on Irving Berlin was
given. Mrs. J. K. Roberts gave an
interesting talk on the life and
works of Berlin. Mrs. C. A. Ken
nedy played three numbers, “Al
exander’s Rag Time Band,’’ “Easr
ter Parade,’’ and “Remember,” all
by Berlin.
Mrs. Colin Spencer, Jr., sang
“Always,” and Berlin numbers
were played by Miss Rozelle Wil
li Eimson.
The hostesses, assisted by Mrs.
C. A. Kennedy and Mrs. Colin
Spencer, Jr., served block cream,
cake, nuts and coffee. A corsage
of violets, the club flower, was on
each plate.
The club will meet Saturday,
April 13, at 4 o’clock with Mrs.
T. N. Frye.

Col. Campbell after 24 years’s ser
vice in the U. S. Army, was re
tired on March 31. Mrs. Camp
bell is the former Ella Vaughn of
Carthage. Mr. Campbell lived in
Candor before entering the army.
Mrs. R. G. Wallace underwent
surgery on Tuesday at the Baptist
Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Mrs. W. A. Blue and children
left Friday for their home in
Beaufort, S. C., after spending 10
days with her parents, the Rev.
and Mrs. W. S. Golden.
The Rev. and Mrs. T. Dixon
Adams and small son, “Tad,” of
Pinnacle, spent three days last
week with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon
Adams.

ing to the final report released
this week by J. W. Moore, county
chairman.
Accompanying Moore’s detailed
report, in which every person who
worked in the drive was listed,
was the statement that the report
“would serve as a means of con
veying to the people of Moore
County an adequate conception of
the scope of work done by the
Colored citizens . . . ’”
The completed totals were
