The hostess read Psalm 121 and Marie Chriscoe led in prayer. Substituting for the house furnishing leader, Mrs. Hare was in charge of the program. Several displayed homemade articles. Marie Chriscoe brought a beauti ful crocheted dress she had made for her daughter; Glennie Brewer showed a pretty pansy doily; Ot- ta Hussey had some lovely pillow cases, a scarf, pillow, and cafe style curtains. There were finger tip towels, dish towels, pot hold ers and pot holder covers. Others told of quilts, sheets and many- other things they had made. HigUfalla Club The Highfalls Home Demon stration Club met with Mrs. Julian B(Ianess Friday night. It was a very delightful meeting. A new member, Mrs. Maude Ken nedy, was enrolled. She is a very active person and we are pleased to have her. Miss McDonald served cheese cake and demonstrated how she made it. Ten were present at the meet ing and Easter hats were talked about. Edna Purvis is an expert on^them and she can wear them like a model. Mrs. Lucille Emmons celebra ted her 10th wedding anniver sary Friday. The refreshments were served in her honor. Four members, Mrs. Julian Maness, Mrs. Seagle Wilson, Mrs. Maude Wilson and Mrs. Sue Wil son plan to attend the District Meeting in April at Jonesboro Heights, Sanford.—^By Mrs. Julian Maness, publicity chair man. Stitzer Horse Is Tryon Winner In Steeplechase Meet Only three horses in a field of six finished as Another Hya cinth, owned by Charles Stitzer of Atlantic City and Southern Pines, captured the 11th annual running of the Blockhouse Steeplechase in Tryon Saturday. The horse, an eight-year old bay geldingl won a purse worth $1,500 before a crowd estimated in excess of 5,000. The race was a tough two-mile test over brush. Ridden by Tommy Walsh of Southern Pines, Another Hya cinth negotiated the 13-jump course in 3:13 315, considered an excellent time. In the North Carolina Hunt Cup, Jamaica Boy, who captured the fancy of much of the crowd at the annual Stoneybrook Steep lechase here last month, was winner. 'y Another horse trained here, Kymbaba, owned by Mrs. Mich ael Walsh and;^idden by Tommy, won the Doncaster. Tommy also rode Belham for a win in The Tryon.
