IN RECORDER'S COURT
Two Convicted For Fighting In
North Side Place; One Appeals
William L. Parrish of Aber
deen, charged with creating a
disturbance in a public place,
and Glepn Loxie Pope of South
ern Pines, charged with cursing
and engaging in an affray, were
found guilty in Recorder’s Court
Saturday and ordered to pay
fines of $25 each, plus costs, or
go to the roads for 30 days.
According to testimony they
had been fighting in the North
which had been suspended, from
a previous judgment, was order
ed into commitment for Parrish,
who noted an appeal and made
bond of $350.
Pope was also ordered by
Judge Rowe to pay a $15.50 re
pair bill to the station’s jukebox.
Other cases disposed of:
John W. Fisher, Fayetteville,
driving without license, and Alex
Joseph Finowitz, Raleigh, aiding

Pope entered a guilty plea.
Jim Douglas, proprietor of the
sendee station, described the
fi'iht. Following his testimony
defense counsel contended that
he had merely described a “con
versation” and not a light. Re
called to the stand, Douglas said,
in response to the attorney s
question: “Don’t you think they
were only playing?”, “If it was,
it was mighty hard play.”
A four-month road sentence.

fendant, who agreed to pay the
costs.
Robbins held their annual home
coming Sunday at Elise Presby
terian Church.
Edwin West, former president
of Elise Academy, presided at
the afternoon session which was
attended by a large crowd. He
appointed a committee to make
arrangements for a marker
which is to be placed in the
church yard at the site Of the
original school.
Morning services were held' at
the church by the Rev. Tal-
madge Edgerton, -former Elise
student. Following the services
dinner was served.
