THURSDAY, MAY 23, 1957 CARTHAGE NEWS By MRS. ALONZO BLUE Outdoor Supper Meeting The Carthage Garden Club enjoyed an outdoor supper meet ing Tuesday night, May 14, at the home of Mrs. Worth McLeod. Officers for the coming year were elected: Mrs. Worth Mc Leod, president; Mrs. Dan Car ter, vice president; Mrs. C. J. McDonald; Jr., . secretary; and Mrs. Evander Caddell, treasurer. There was a very lively and interesting .discussion on -“The Finer Carolina” program, being sponsored by the Carthage Com munity Club, and the Garden Club is hoping to be able to help with this. Many lovely flodrer arrange ments were brought in by mem bers and especially beautiful were the hand-decorated indivi dual cakes made by Mrs. Mae Davis. The following members were present: Mrs. Eldon Adams, Mrs. Joe Allen, Mrs. M. G. Boyette, Mrs. Dan Carter, Mrs. John Cur rie, Mrs. C T. Grier, Mrs. C. J. McDonald, Jr., Mrs. Quinton Reynolds, Mrs. C. T. Sinclair, Jr., Mrs. C. G. Spencer, Sr., Mrs. W. H. Currie, Mrs. Mae Davis, Miss Frances McKeithen and the hostess, Mrs. Worth McLeod. Birth Announcement Born to Sgt. and Mrs. Neil Sineth, a son, Sunday, May 19, in Moore Coimty Hospital. Mrs. Sineth is making her home on Monroe Street while Sgt. Sineth is stationed with the army in Virginia. Baptismal Service On Sunday, May 19, at the morning worship service in the Carthage Presbyterian Church, two children were presented by their parents for baptism. Flora Mclver Clegg, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neill McKeithen Clegg of Rocking ham, and Charles Seth Prevost, son of Mr. and Mrs. Murd Pre vost, received the sacrament of baptism, with the pastor, the Rev. M S. Golden, officiating. Personals Mrs. Charles, J. McDonald and Miss Janie MacLeod spent the weekend in Asheboro with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ellis and Mrs. Fan nie Blackman Shields. Mr. and Mrs. Worth McDon ald were in Jonesville over the weekend with Mrs. McDonald’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Mor rison. Mn and Mrs. J. H. KENTUCKY Mrs. H. J. Myrick. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Myrick of Highfalls were Simday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Myrick. Mrs. Z. V. Fowler of Bogalusa, La., is spending some time with her brother, Charles Davis, and ■other relatives here. Mrs. Beula^ Phillips is a pa tient in Moore County Hospital, and, although critically iU, her many friends will be glad to know she is resting comfortably. Mr. and Mrs. Da'vid Hume and daughter, Cathy, of Greensboro spent three days here this week with Mrs. Hume’s sister, Mrs.* W. H. Currie, and family. Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Parks spent the day Simday with Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Upchimch, in Robbins. The Rev. and Mrs. T. Dixon Adams and little son. Tad, of Pinnacle were here last week for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Adams. Mrs. W. B. Finnison has re turned home from Moore County Hospital, following surgery. Mrs. Stacey Brewer and Miss Annie Margaret Brewer were in Raeford Saturday to visit the Bion Brewers. George Schuler, former head of the music department of Moody Bible Institute in Chica go, who now resides in Florida, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McGraw Sunday evening. Other guests were Atty. and Mrs. H. F. SeaweU and Mr. and Mrs. James T^son. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Jones of Asheboro, en route to Myrtle Beach for a vacation, stopped over Monday to see C. T. Hen son, at Jones Department Store. Mr. Jones is president of the Jones Stores. Mrs. Jerry Leggett, who has been with her mother, Mrs. C. T. Henson, during her convales- cense, after treatment in Moore County Hospital, was joined by Mr. Leggett for the weekend here. They returned to their home in Fayetteville Sunday evening. Dr. J. F. Davis of Greensboro spent last week with his brother, 'Iharles Davis. Mrs. Davis joined him for the weekend. Mrs. W. A. Blue and children, Jane and Nancy, of Waycross, Ga., are ■ spending two weeks with her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Golden, while Mr. Blue is traveling in the state in the interest of his company, the Ballinger Paving Co., of Green ville, S. C. Vernon Watson of Raleigh was here over the weekend with his sister, Mrs. J. L. McGraw, and Mr. McGraw. Mrs. Henry Deese and daugh ters, Patricia and Sandra Kay, of Kannapolis, accompanied by Neil James, also of Kannapolis fiance of Miss Patricia Deese, and Mr. and Mrs. R. A.
