A. McDon ald, were at home to the seniors, marshals, invited guests and adult advisor. Miss Meade Sea- well, at a floating party, at the Cagle home. Refreshments of punch, party sandwiches, cheese straws, cake and nuts were served. Slumiber Party Candace McDonald, valedic torian of the graduating class of Carthage High School, and six classmates, Marie Purvis, Hilda Cagle, Evelyn Troxler, Patricia Myrick, Joan Morrison, and Frances Kirby, enjoyed a slum ber party at the McDonald home, Tuesday i morning following the school closing festivities Tues day night. Wiener Roast Miss Lucile Smith entertained a number of her eighth grade classmates last Wednesday eve ning at an outdoor wiener roast at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Frye, Jr., celebrated his 22nd birthday Sunday,' May 26, at a surprise birthday dinner, given by his mother, Mrs. How ard Frye, and his wife at their home in Southern Pines. He re ceived many nice gifts. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Smith and little son, Stevie, are visiting Mr. Smith’s brother, R. G. Smith, and family. He is with the Air Force and wUl leave for duty in Iceland on June 8. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Pleasants and daughter, Mrs. Dick Short, of High Point were guests of Mrs. R. W. Pleasants Friday. Mrs. M. G. Dalrymple is re ceiving treatment in Moore Coimty Hospital. Mrs. EUen Switzer of Long Beach, Cal., is spending some time with her cousin, Mrs. R. W. Pleasants. The Rev. C. A. Kirby, pastor of the Baptist Church, is in Chi cago this week attending the Baptist Convention. Mrs. W. A. Blue was in Raleigh Monday for the alumnae meeting at Peace College. Mrs. Frank Blue of Sanford spent the weekend with Mrs. R. W. Pleasants. Luncheon guests on last Wed nesday of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. SeaweU included the Rev. N. A. Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., J. L. Birch of Piedmont Bible In stitute, Winston-Salem, and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. McGraw. Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Loy and children of Burlington and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McGraw, Jr., and children of Warwick, Va., were weekend guests of their pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Mc Graw. Mrs. Louise Homewood, home demonstration agent, and Miss Lillie Ellen Wise, assistant agent; from Yancey ville, in Caswell county, were weeend guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Garrison. Mrs. Homewood and Miss Wise were in Pinehurst through Wed nesday attending a district agents’ meeting. The Rev. C. K. Taffe of Cam eron was in Carthage Sunday for worship service at the Presbyte rian Church. - Mrs. R. W. Pleasants spent Thursday night in Aberdeen with Mrs. Capps and Miss Pleas ants. Mrs. A. McN. Blue, Miss Eula Blue, Miss Mamie Williamson, Mrs. J. K. Roberts and Mrs. W. G. Brown attended the centen nial in Albemarle. Lee Thomas had as her dinner guests on Thursday night at Howard Johnson’s Mrs. A. W. Lambert, Mrs. H. Lee Thomas, Jr., and Frank Thomas. C. A. Prevost and Murd K. Prevost and son, Murdock, Jr., left on Friday for a few days’ visit with Mr. Prevost’s brother, George R. Prevost, in Lakewood, Ohio. Miss Margaret Kelly, Miss Rosemary Kelly and Mrs. Sadie K. Wall spent last weekend in Greensboro with Mr. and Mrs. N. W. McKay and family. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williamson and son Yates and Mr. and Mrs. D. Carl Frye attended the com mencement exercises of the Mau ry High School in Maury Simday and Monday. Artie Shields, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Frye and nephew of Mrs. Williamson, was a member of the graduating class. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hardy during their stay.
