E. T. Par ham, pastor of the Robbins Bap tist Church. Serving the largest graduating class in the history of the school as valedictorian was Helen Mae Brown. Co-salutatorians were Robert Worth Brown and James Baldwin Hancock. Marshals elected to serve dur ing the Commencement events were: Auvilla Trotter, chief; Twila Allen, Jimmy Gamer, Lorna, Cockman, Michael Pres- lar, Lois Brown, and Jerry Hay wood. Tuesday night the Graded School auditorium was the scene of the Class Night program, “At tic Memories.” . Events and those taking part were Class Spirit: “The Storm," —Jackie Sue Scoggin; salutato- rian: “What To Remember,”- Bobby Brown; historians: “The Trunk,” Iris Cooke and Ina Me Crimmon; president: “House of Memory,” Jimmy Hancock, co- salutatorian; poet: “A Web of YEARS OLD 4/5Q0Mn' CLVB Memories,” Shirley Hunsucker; prophet: “The Owl,” Jerry Mc Neill; giftorian: “The Basket,” Louise Harris; recorder:' “Mem oirs,” Lula Ritter; testator: “The White Elephant,” James Culbert son; valedictorian: “What To Forget,” Helen Brown. Graduation exercises were held Friday night. The program was as follows: Processional, senior Class; piano solo, Jackie Sue Scoggin; introduction of speaker, the Rev. C. J. Andrews; address. Dr. Harold Hutson, president of Greensboro College; presentation of awards, C. E. Hackney, district principal; pre sentation of diplomas, J. A. Cul bertson; benediction, the Rev. W, F. H^mcock; recessional. Senior Class. Among the awards presented were the following: sportsman ship, Helen Britt and Bobby Brown; citizenship, Auvilla Trot ter; history, Jimmy Garner; typ ing, Willis Howard Williams. Mary Ruth Seawell received an award as the most dependable. Evans. Birthday Party The Women of the Church, Elise Presbyterian Church, held their annual birthday party in the ladies parlor Monday night. Mrs. Ben Owen, president, presided over the meeting. Fol lowing the trtmsaction of the George Colton Is Honored At State College For Work George M. Colton, son of Mr. and Mrs. George C. Colton of 290 W. Illinois Ave., has been named outstanding committee chairman at N. C. State College by the Col lege Union. The selection was based on Colton’s meritorius achievements during the current school year. A junior at State, Colton is a graduate of the Southern Pines High School, class of 1954. He is studying nuclear physics. business and the committee re ports the party was held. Deli cious refreshments were served, A special offering was taken.
