A Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Klay Box an nounce the birth of a daughter, Jayne Sharon on Thursday, July 25th in the Moore Memorial Hos pital. Sharon weighed six pounds and twelve ounces. Mrs. Box is the former Hazel Melvin, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Melvin of Aberdeen. Winners from Moore were Billy Sheppard of Aberdeen, beekeeping; Jane Owen, Robbins, electric demonstration; and Bur- gwyn Fields, Star Route, Carth age, tractor driving. Young Sheppard used as the topic of his demonstration, “How to Re-Queen a Hive of Bees and the Necessary Equipment.’’ By winning the state title, he be came the recipient of an all expense paid trip to State 4-H week and a $15 cash prize. Miss Owen, a student at Elise High School, placed sixth in a field of 95 in the dress revue, in addition to her winning efforts in the electric demonstration. She was also entered in the health pageant as Moore County repre sentative. Fields won a trip to Richmond, .Va., September 20-24, to compete against winners from 20 other states in tractor driving. From there, if he wins, he will go to Oklahoma for further competi tion for the national award. Others from this county who won prizes at the event were Lonnie McKenzie, Route 3, Car thage, who placed third in a to bacco demonstration; Gwynn Voss of Aberdeen, fourth in pub lic speaking; and Lester McCas- kill and Billy Sheppard, fourth in poultry production. Others attending from this county were Bobby Auman Route 1, West End; Nancy Mc Leod, Route 2, Carthage; Dwayne Price, Route 2, Robbins; Vivian Tucker, West End; Gayle McNeil and Lorna Cockman, Robbins; Mrs. Nancy Currie of Southern Pines, assistant home agent; and Thomas Hall, assist ant farm agent. hange In Sunday Services Listed At Local Church Beginning this Sunday, the Church of Wide Fellowship will hold ten o’clock services during the entire month of August in lieu of the regular 11 o’clock service and the Church School, both of which will resume in September. Daily vacation Bible school at the church will begin Tuesday, August 6, and will meet each morning except Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 to 11:30. The school continues through Au gust 16. Children of the commu nity of kindergarten through junior high school age are invi ted to register. Acting minister at the church and director of the Bible school is Roger Gibbs. David Paddock, organist, and Mrs. Chatfield, office secretary, will be on vacation the first two weeks in August.
