Mrs. Herbert Van Boskerck gave the devotional and program, “Three Knocks In The Night.” Mrs. Luther Tyner presided over the business and heard re ports from coipmittees and cir cle chairman. Mills were hostesses to the Woman’s Society of Chris tian Service Monday evening at the Methodist Church. “Christ On The Campus”, was the topic of a program presented by Mrs. James Teal, assisted by Miss Juanita Teal and Mrs. Douglas Morgan. Circle 2 led in attendance with 15 members present. Mrs. Growland McCaskill pre sided over the business and heard reports. Final plans were made for the bazaar and turkey supper scheduled for Wednesday, November 20. At the close of the meeting the hostesses served refreshments to the 26 members and several visitors present. Birthday Party Tommy B'aggett celebrated his second birthday anniversary at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Baggett, last Thurs day. Favors of hats and balloons were given the guests, and after Tommy had opened his many gifts Mrs. Baggett served ice cream and birthday cake to the following guests: Dickie and Davie_ Dixon, Liza and Mike Wylie, Sonya and Kin Anderson, Deborah Sherrill, and Tommy’s sister, Joan Baggett. Surprise Birthday Dinner W. K. Carpenter, Sr., was giv en a surprise birthday dinner on Sunday at the Home Demonstra tion Clubhouse. A lot of visiting was enjoyed with all of Mr. Car penter’s sisters and his brother attending. A large birthday cake centered the table, which was laden with food. Present for the dinner were: Mrs. Ethel Wilson and Mrs. Ann Jones, of Goldsboro; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Adams and Mrs. Henry Smith and daughter, Frances, all of Raleigh; Joe Car penter and children of Wagram, and Mr. and Mrs. Brady Brooks and daughter Becky, Mrs. Emma Blevins, Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Car penter, Jr., Cathy and David Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Carpenter, Jimmie. Rachel and Janet Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. John Carpenter, Marsha ' and Stephen, and Mrs. W. K. Carpen ter; Sr. From Aberdeen were Mrs, Margaret Tarlton, Miss Sheila Tarlton, and the Rev. and Mrs. W. R. Gosnell. Personals Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Leavitt spent last Thursday in Raleigh. Mr. Leavitt made a business trip and Mrs Leavitt visited her daugh ter, Mrs. Tommy Goldston, and Mr. Goldston. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Williams, and Mrs. Wayne Martin and son Russ visited Mrs. Williams’ sis ter, Mrs. Jones Williams, and Mr. Williams in Wadesboro Sunday. Mrs. Pearl Bullard was also a guest of the Williamses. Mrs. Purvis Ferree and Mrs. W. G. Miller of Winston-Salem were weekend guests of Mrs. M. F. Butner. ■ Mr. and Mrs. Ehrman Pickier and Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Carpen ter of Aberdeen spent the week end in Clarksvtlle, Va., with Mrs. Pickler’s brother, T. J. Tarlton, and Mrs. Tarlton. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Helms of Sanford visited Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Carpenter, Sr., Sunday after noon. Out-of-town people attending funeral services for Mrs. Mary L. David last Monday included: Mr. and Mrs. Jerry O’Btien of Williamston, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McDaniels of Ninety Six, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Vincent McDaniels and Mr. and Mrs. Rupert McDan iels, of Sumter.
