North Carolina THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1957 WEST END NEWS Biide-Elect Honored Two former West End High School classmates of Miss Patricia Farmer, Mrs, Albert Blue (Lois Eifort) of High Point and Mrs. Clinton Williams (Geraldine Free man) of Eagle Springs, honored her at a shower party which brought a number of old friends together at the Williams home Saturday evening. Upon arrival Miss Farmer, a bride-elect of December 21, was presented a corsage of white car nations. The bridal theme was used in games and contests, and winners gave their prizes to the honoree, who was later present ed a shower of lovely gifts which had been plax^ed in a decorated umbrella. The refreshment table held an arrangement of pink snapdrag ons and fern flanked by white tapers in crystal candelabra. In dividual cakes decorated in green and white, nuts eind lime ice were served, with Mrs. Blue presiding at the punch bowl. Mrs. Joe Pus- ser assisted Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Blue in serving the 25 guests. Family Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mark ham entertained at a family get- together at their home Thursday, with Mrs. M. L. Morris, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Lewis and the North Lewis family as guests. Hunting at Lake Mattamuskeet last week. North Lewis killed two geese and Mrs. Morris prepared these as a special dish for the Thanksgiving dinner, which ail enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ritter with Carol, Dianne, and Linda, of Wilson, visited Mrs. C. W. Ritter for several days. Sunday dinner guests of the Archie Farmer family were Sgt. Bill Davis of La Grange, Ga., and Sgt. John Wood of Kansas City. Mo., who are new stationed at Fort Bragg. Miss Faye McKen zie of Pinehurst was the weekend guest of Karen Farmer. Guest Ministers The Rev. and Mrs. Neil Stev ens of Fayetteville were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Claude Au man, with other members of her family there including the Glenn Aumans, of Hillsboro, the Ray mond Aumans of Aberdeen, Tres- sie /)f Greensboro, and the Clyde and Earl Auman families of West End. The Rev. Neil Stevens, retired Presbyterian minister of Fayette ville and a former missionary to the Congo, conducted the morn ing worship services at the Pres byterian Church Sunday. The Rev. W. S. Golden of Carthage will conduct the services next Sunday morning at 11 o’clock. Hear Report The Men of the Presbyterian Church were given a report of the Men’s Convention in Miami by Harold Markham and Clyde Auman, at their meeting Sunday night. The following officers for the coming year were elected: Pres ident, Leslie Gordon; vice-presi dent, Allan McDonald; secretary- treasurer, Harold Markham. Miss Eifort Entertains Joe Eifort of Davidson College spent part of his Thanksgiving holidays here with his aunt. Miss Lucile Eifort. Miss Eifort enter tained a gfoup of young people at her home Saturday evening for dinner. The guests included Merle Fletcher, Carolyn Branson, Vi vian Tucker, Bobbie Jean McNair, Elsie Hill, Chris McDonald, Clif ton Munn, John Monroe, and Watts Auman, from West End, and James Prim from Southern Pines. In Hospital The Rev. George Houck is hos pitalized at Moore Memorial Hos pital following surgery for a rup tured disc Friday morning. He thinks that it will be about six weeks before he can resume his pastoral duties.
