Cur rie, Mrs. John Currie and Miss Mary Currie attended the dedi cation of the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tuggle, Jr., Sun day afternoon, November 24, in Martinsville, Va. Dr. Forrester, pastor of the Methodist Church in that city, conducted the service with Scripture reading and prayer. fi/Irs. Tuggle sang “God Bless This Home.” Following the dedication, Mr. and Mrs. Tuggle served a buffet supper to around 25 guests. -Birth Announcement Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Davis of Charlotte announce the birth of a daughter, Pcimalea Jean, on November 8 in Charlotte Mem orial Hospital. Mrs. Davis is the former Btetty Jean Seawell of Route 1, Carthage. Thanksgiving Dinner A family get-together of chil dren, grandchildren and great grandchildren of the late Peter and Mary McCrimmon Blue was Mrs. C. F. Bruce of Wise, Va., spent the Thanksgiving holidays with her son, the Rev. B. E. Dot- son, and Mrs. Dotson, at the Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Vickery and son Jimmy, and J. O. Vick ery of Pleasant Garden, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John R. Kelly. Mr. and Mrs. H. Lee Thomas, Jr., of Charlotte were at home with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Lambert, for the Thanksgiving holiday. Mrs. Gilmer Seawell has re turned from a visit to her daugh ter, Mrs. G. W. Davis, and her new granddaughter in Charlotte. Miss Mary Allen McDonald of Charleston, S. C., and Miss Ida Martin McDonald of Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, were with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. McDonald, for the holiday week end. MRS GEORGE A EmploymentShows Slight Increase For 2nd Quarter Average employment in Moore County during the second quar ter of this year amounted to 4,- 697, according to figures just re leased by the North Carolina Employment Security Commis sion. The figure represented a gaiq, of 1.1 per cent, as compared with the first quarter of the year. Fig ures for the corresponding per iod last year were not available. The commission, which keeps a constant check on the employ ment picture in all areas of the state through employer payments each month, said that total wages paid in the county during the sec ond quarter reached $3,081,138, with an average weekly wage of $50.46. Statewide, the average weekly vvage of the insured worker group in the second quarter was $61.67, some $2.11 more than the second quarter of 1956.
