Reprerantalive — Telephone Vats 2171 Ladies' Night The Methodist Men’s Club ob served Ladies’ Night last Thurs day by entertaining at a dinner meeting at the Dutch Farm Inn. A delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served by candlelight in a Christmas set ting. 'The Rev. Fant Steele gave the invocation, and C. L. Tyson wel comed the ladies. Mrs. G. E. Griffin responded. A. G. Ed wards, Jr., program chairman, in troduced the guest speaker, L. L. Wcolley of Southern Pines, who kept the group highly entertain ed for some time with a round of jokes, followed by an inspiring message in serious vein. Attending the dinner were H. A. Christmas Pageant “'The Holy Nativity,” a Christ mas pageant, will be presented by members of the Vass Metho dist Youth Fellowship, assisted by several others, at 7:30 o’clock Sunday night, December 22. A brief worship service will pre cede the pageant, with special music by a group of children. The public is invited to attend. Joy Gift Service The annual Joy Gift Christmas program will be given at Cypress Presbyterian Church at 7 ;30 p. m, on Christmas Eve. Music Recital Mrs. Herbert Mclnnis present ed her piano pupils in a recital at the school Sunday afternoon, with parents and special guests in attendance. After the program punch and cookies were served. Service Well Attended A crowd which practically fill ed the Vass Presbyterian Church attended the Christmas pageant, “Christmas Angels,” presented last Sunday night. The Rev. A. C. Trivette presided during the opening exercises, during which be exolained the annual Joy Gift, for retired ministers and their widows, and an offering was made. , The pageant, presented in an attractive setting, featured Christmas angels, the manger scene, shepherds. Wise Men, car olers, choir, and a number of children. David Crocket was the reader, and the production, which was very impressive and carried a real Christmas message, was directed by Mrs. W. E. Glad stone. There will be no service at the Presbyterian Church the fourth Sunday night, the pastor an nounced. Woman's Club Fifteen members of the Vass Woman’s Club went to Sanford last Friday evening to see the Christmas decorations and ar rangements at Frank’s flower shop. They were delighted with v/hat they saw, and gained many ideas which they planned to put into practice. The group returned to the home of Mrs. Henry Klingen- schmidt for the business and so cial program.
