Nineteen members and guests were present. Mrs. Herbert Van Boskerck con ducted devotions. Circle No. 2 met with Mrs. John Carpenter the same evening with six members and one visitor pres ent. Mrs. Carpenter presented the program ‘The Whole World Is In My Church Budget." Mrs. Brady Brooks presided and heard reports. Following the meeting Mrs. Billy Mather was given a sur prise blue and pink shower. The hostess served refreshments. Pickier Thursday night. Mrs. Alma Marks, 89, Dies After Lengthy Illness Mrs. J. A. Wilkes Of Pinebluff Died On Tuesday Mrs. J. A. Wilkes, 80, of Pine bluff, died Tuesday at Moore Memorial Hospital. Funeral sefvices were held at Mark’s Creek Presbyterian Church near Hamlet today at 3 p.m. conducted by the pastor, the Rev. A. T. Taylor, with burial in the church cemetery. She was the former Pfenelope Alice Wilkes of Richmond County who moved to Pinebluff several years ago to make her home. Her husband died in 1950. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. George Hudson, Pinebluff; Mrs. George Vest, Aberdeen; Mrs. J. T. Thomas, Mississippi City, Miss., and Mrs. H. L. York, Hoff man; two sons, J. A. Wilkes, Jr., Wagram, and C. W. Wilkes, Pine bluff; and 20 grandchildren.
