Specialist Five Clarence J. El
liott, 31, son of Mr. and Mrs.
James Elliott, Vass, is participa
ting. with the 1st Artillery in
“Exercise Rocky Shoals’’ on the
California coast.
Specialist Elliott, who is regu
larly assigned as a radio repair
man in the artillery’s Headquar
ters Battery at Fort Lewis,
Wash., entered the Army in Feb
ruary 1946.
Elliott is a 1949 graduate of
Shaw University in Raleigh.
Army PFC James W. Taylor,
22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tobe C.
Taylor, Route 1, West End, re
cently returned to his regular as
signment in Augsburg, Germany,
after a three-rtionth tour of duty
with Task Force 201 in Lebanon.
Taylor, a machine gunner in
Company B of the 187th Infan
try, entered the Army in 1954
and arrived in Europe in Febi;u-
ary 1956.
He' attended Carthage High
School.
Army PFC Joel G. Stancil.
23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton
Stancil, Routt 1, Aberden, re
cently returned to his regular as
signment in Boblingen, Ger
many, after a two-month tour of
duty with Task Force 201 in
Lebanon.
Stancil is a radio operator in
the 585th Signal Company. He
entered the Army in March 1957.
Stancil is a 1953 graduate of
Aberdeen High School.
