WEST END NEWS
By SALLIE AUMAN
Fish Fry
A fish fry will be held Friday,
March 18 froiA 11:30 a. m.-9 p. m.
at the fire house to which the
public is invited. The proceeds
will be used to defray the ex
penses of Qur volunteer fire de
partment with the firemen spon
soring this event. Eire Chief J.
B. Barnette says that some one
has been ringing the fire tele
phones, apparently just to have
the firemen rush to the phones.
These men, are giving so gener
ously of their time that all tele
phone owners should watch care
fully that no one calls, 2526 (the
fire number) unless to report a
fire. The calls can be traced, but
it is hoped that it will not be
necessary to take that step. Ut
most caution should be used for
the following six weeks when
burning trash outside the home.
Following the thawing of the
snow, the. grass will be dry and
the March winds will be high
and together can be a fire haz
ard. . Fires can be controlled by
using precaution, especially now!
