THURSDAY, AUGUST 11, 1960 THE PILOT—Southern Pines, North Carolina Brothers Charged With Stripping Parts From. Stolen Car Found Deep In Woods ai) A stripped down skeleton of a 1956 Chevrolet found deep in the woods by Moore County officers last Friday turned out to belong to Marion Craver of Sanford, it was learned from the Sheriff’s de partment this week. Craver' had reported the car stolen at Sanford June 22. It was not insured. ABC officers, members of the sheriff’s department and a State Highway Patrolman, on another mission, found the car abandoned in the woods beyond Mt. Carmel church, several miles from Car thage. Following investigation, said Chief Deputy H. H. Grimm, two brothers of the Mt. Calvary Church community were arrested —Edward Eugene Needham, 23, and Diffie C. Needham, Jr., 21. They said they had “found” the car in the woods, but admitted re moving just about everything re movable from it, according to Grimm. The motor, with serial number providing the identifying clue, was found in the brothers’ mother’s car, and also on her car were the muffler and two wheels and tires. The transmission was found in a car belonging to anoth er member of the family. There was no evidence the car owners knew the origin of these parts, the deputy said. Nor was there evidence of car theft against the Needham broth ers. Charged with malicious des truction of property and convert ing parts to their own use, they each made bond of $250 for their appearance at Moore Recorders’ Court August 22. t PINEBLIIFF NEWS By MRS.
