Receives Life Membership It was a really happy occasion for the members of the West Ejid Presbyterian Church to have one of its lovely Christian wom.en, Mrs. John L. Thompson, Sr. come back once again to visit her Church family. The newly deco rated sanctuary which she had never seen, made a perfect set ting for her as she sat there in her rolling chair. A great feeling of joy seemed to rise in the hearts and minds of the congregation not only to see her again, but to be able to share in the honor ac corded her by the Women of the Church—a Life Membership. Friend fo All How deserving she was of this honor. She served her community and church well through the years. She has been a friend to everybody, never failing to help those in need by giving freely Of what she had that others might be happier and more secure. With her late husband. Elder John Thompson, she maintained a steadfast loyalty in giving of her time, talents and material. As one neighbor has so aptly said of her —“She has always had something to do and give for her church.” 'Salt of the Earth' 'The Presbyterian Church is proud of Mrs. Thompson for the gi'eat example of Christian living she has set before the church community. A good solid citizen whose citizenship is typical of “The Salt of the Earth,” a sweet and kind mother whose children tell her of her greatness and woman Lee Sutphin, W. A. Special Graciousness It makes no difference under what circumstances one meets her, whether in the depths of de spair, or on the mountaintop of joy, there is to be found always a special graciousness about this good woman: a bright and happy smile upon her face, the twink ling of a rare light in her eyes, and for everyone kind and gentle words upon her lips which tell all those who meet her that here is a true witness for the Christ she loves. “Let your light so shine that others may see your good deeds,” and “Love your neighbor as yourself” are fitting philoso phies for this noble woman’s way of life as the Women of the Church have seen her through the years and continue to see her today.
