Campbell College
Has 28 Students
From Moore Co.
Moore County has 28 students
at Campbell College, Buies Creek,
placing it among the first, 10
counties of the state in student
repres'sntation at the college.
Harnett County has the most
students, with 216. Moore, Dup
lin and Wayne trail the list of the
10 leading counties, with 28 each.
A. B. Burkot, dpan, said the
college has 1,403 students this
fall, including 163 members of
the college’s first junior class,
added this year in the school’s
progress toward full four-year
college status.
The Moore County students are:

High School Saturday attended
the Duke-Clemson football game
in Durham. Accompanying them

' Hallo'ween Carnival
i The annual HEdloween Carni
val will be held Friday evening
at the Pinehurst Elementary
School. An early and a later
movie will be shown in the audi
torium; there will be the usual
booths and other carnival features
and a contest for king and queen
and prince and princess. The eve
ning will wind up with a sock
dance in the gymnasium for high
school students.
All Saints Day
An 8 a. m. mass and a service
at 5 p. m. will be offered at Sa
cred Heart Catholic Church by
the pastor, the Rev. James fe.
Jones on Wednesday, 'November
1, All Saints’ Day, a holy day of

Dessert Bridge
Miss Dorothy McNeill enter
tained the members of her bridge
club on Saturday night with five
members and three guests at
tending. A sweet course and cof
fee were served upon arrival. Af
ter serveral progressions of play,
scores were tallied and high
prize was awarded to Mrs. Harry
Watson and traveling prize to
Mrs. Vann Clark. Members play
ing were Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Clark,
Mrs. Mack Wicker and Mrs. Cur-
tie Mclnnis. Guests included Mrs.
Mack A. Wallace, Mrs. Anne
Mischke and Mrs. John K. Ro
bertson of Pembroke.
Junior Garden Club
The Junior Garden Club held
its first meeting recently with
18 members attending.
The following officers were
elected: president, Helen Parks;
vice president, Margaret Todd;
secretary. Eve Williamson; trea
surer, Janet Oldham.
Mrs. E. O. Freeman and Mrs.
S. P. Swaringen, counselors for
the group gave a demonstration
of drying flowers and the mem
bers made corsages from flowers
that had been dried previously.
Janet Oldham won the cash
prize for the largest sunflower
head grown from seed this sum
mer. She also served delicious
homemade cookies and coca colas
to the group.
Jr. Woman's Club
The members of the Jr. Garden
Club met Tuesday of last week
in the Legion hut with 18 mem
bers present.
Mrs. Ranell Thompson, presi
dent, presided over the business
session. Mrs. Frank McNeill gave
the devotional.
The group discussed plans to
send a Christmas box to Mur
docks School at Butner. A dona
tion was voted to be sent to the
Boys’ Home at Lake Waccamaw.
Harold Fowler, of Southern
Pines and chief of the Fire De
partment gave a most interesting
program on fire hazards and pre
vention of fires.
The hostesses, Mrs. Brady
Brooks, Mrs. Marshall Donathan
and Mrs. Tom Howe served Rus
sian tea, brownies and halloween
candies during the social hour.
Methodist Bazaar
The women of Page Memorial
Methodist Church will hold their
annual Bazaar on Thursday, Nov
ember 2, beginning at 11 o’clock.
Homemade cakes, candies, cook
ies, breads of all kinds, rolls, and
doughnuts will be on sale. The
“Country Store’’ will have the
usual jellies, canned fruits and
vegetables country produced.
Plants, shrubs and bulb's will also
be features of the day.
