PRESENTATION— The God and Country award, high Boy Scouting honor, is being presented in this photo to Scout Danny Williams by Karl Schweinfufth (right), former Scoutmaster of the Vass troop, under whose leadership Danny did most of the work for his award. Others in the photo are Danny’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams, who stand at each side of him, and, in the background, left to right, The Rev. David Moe, Methodist minister, and the Rev. J. D. Hales, Jr., Baptist minister. Vass Scout Wins Cod & Country Award; Presentation Made at Church Service Presentation of a charter to Vass Boy Scout Troop 810 and a God and Country award—the first ever earned by a member of the troop—to Daniel Harold Williams were highlights of a special serv ice Sunday evening at the Vass Methodist Church. The troop is sponsored jointly by the Vass Baptist, Presbyterian and Methodist Churches, each of which was well represented. A parade of flags in which around 20 uniformed Boy Scouts and their leaders participated was first on the program, follow ed by an invocation by the Rev. David Moe, Methodist minister who -presided, and the pledge of allegiance to the Hag. The Rev. J. D. Hales, Baptist minister, brought a challenging, message especially keyed to youth. Mr. Moe presented the l-etiring scoutmaster, Karl Schweinfurth, whose outstanding leadership over a period of years has caused Troop 810 to win wide recogni tion and be awarded the God and Country emblem to Scout Wil liams. Danny, as he is known, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Williams of Vass, is 15 years of age and a sophomore in Vass-Lakeview High School where he is a mem ber of the Future Farmers of America and eligible for member ship in the Beta Club, whose in itiation ceremony is yet to be held. He is a member of the Vass Methodist Church, sings in the church choir, and regularly at tends Sunday School and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. It wlas mentioned by his present pasthr that most of Danny s church work for the award was accomplished during the ministry AT HAMLET Aberdeen of the Rev. T. Fant Steele, Jr., who was transferred to another church in July. Dr. John Grier, Jr., Moore Dis trict Scout commissioner, present ed the charter to C. G. Crockett, Jr., the sponsoring churches’ representative to the Moore Dis trict Committee, also a Boy’s Life award indicating that each troop member receives the official scout magazine. The commissioner presented badges to six new scouts and membership certifica.tes to all members of the troop. Cecil H. Rowell, the new scout master, and his assistants, Clyde S. Smith and Edward J.
