Represen tatives of the Woman’s Club serv ed a turkey dinner, with all the trimmings, in the recreation Hall of the Presbyterian Church. Troop 27 Project The Senior Girl Scout Trooj) 27 worked five afternoons last week assisting with the canteen at Moore Memorial as their vol unteer hospital work project. Fri day afternoon, the Troop planted yellow flowers in the center of town at the Red and White Store in celebration of the 100th birth day of the Girl Scout organiza tion. They were assisted with the planting by Scoutmaster Floyd Cole and his Boy Scouts. Following the work the girls entertained the boys at a party at the Methodist youth building with Girl Scout troop committee, Mrs. Willianj, Jackson, Mrs. Colon Williams and Mrs. E. L. Sutphin assisting. The girls who are mem bers of this enthusiastic troop are Delores Conrad, Brenda Gra ham, Jane Jackson, Libba John son, Becky Markham, Sharon Richardson, Opal Whisnant and Joanne Sutphin. The Pinehurst-We'st End neigh borhood Girl Scout leaders met Wednesday morning at the Meth odist youth building. Mrs. John C. Grier Jr., of Pinehurst, presi dent presided at the meeting and Mrs.-Joy Wright, district director of, the girl scout work, of Sanford was present. WSCS Meeting Mrs. Decatur Richardson gave the worship service at the WSCS Monday evening at the Methodist youth building. The program was presented by Mrs. Fred Monroe assisted by Mrs. Aaron Tyson, Mrs. J. F. Sinclair and Miss Al berta Monroe. Mrs. James Rec tor presided at the meeting and Miss Blanche Monroe and Mrs. John Brandon were hostesses. At Duke Hospital The Rev. Aaron Tyson and Mrs. M. J. Davis visited the Rev. W.. H. Brown who is a patient at Duke Hospital, and Mrs Brown at the Methodist Retirement Home, in Durham, last week. They are happy to report that the Rev. Mr. Brown is much improv ed. Program Given The Presbyterian Women met Monday evening and a program on the World Council of Churches was presented by Mrs. Glenn Lewis, Mrs. E. R. Outland, Mrs. Harold Markham and Mrs. Clyde Auman. Personals Weekend guests of the Edward Dunns were Mrs. Beulah McRae of Rockingham and A|2c Leon McRae, who has recently return ed from Okinawa and will be leaving soon for his new assign ment in Charleston, S. C. In Charlotte Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. David Wilson, and Rich ard, and Miss Grace Donaldson David and Richard visited Frank Watt in the Steele Creek Commu nity and also the boyhood home of David’s father, which was built in 1850. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Craft an nounce the birth of a baby daughter, Cynthia Ann, in a hospital in Poughkeepsie, N. Y. Mrs. Craft is the former Miss Carol Ritter. The Thanksgiving Service to be held Thursday morning at 9:30 at the Presbyterian Church, is sponsored annually by the Bap tist, Methodist and Presbyterian congregations. The Rev. Aaron TySon will bring the message and special music will be given by the choirs of the Presbyterian Church. JACKSON SPRINGS NEWS Charlie McDonald has been ad vised by the Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church, U. S., that his sister, Miss Mollie McDonald has been airlifted from her mis sion station at Lubuia in the Bel gian Congo to Leopoldville. Miss McDonald was reported safe and pnhurt but several of her com panions were badly beaten in some of the uprisings in that sec tion. Miss McDonald serves as a laboratory technician in a hospi tal and also trains natives in lab oratory technology, especially in the diagnosis of leprosy. Attending the District "VI con ference of the Presbyterian Church Women at Pinehurst Wed nesday evening were the District vice-chairman, Mrs. John C. Blue; Mrs. Edgar Graham who reported for the local women; Mrs. Charlie McDonald, Mrs. John Patterson, Mrs. A. H. McCall, Mrs. E. J. Blue, Mrs. Woodford Sherrill, Mrs Paul Cole, Mrs. Ollia Currie, Mrs. Harris Blake, Mrs. Nelson Blue. A highlight for the local women was seeing Mrs. W. A. Brown, their former pastor’s wife. One woman said it was like Christmas. Charlie Billing and Herbert Currie were hospitalized last week at Moore Memorial Hospi tal. Weekend guests of the Robert Hendersons were Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Herndon of Myrtle Beach, S. C. The Tom Suth^rs of Kannapo lis spent the weekend at their cottage here. Miss Patsy McCrary of Carth age, and David Bobo of Pittsboro have joined the staff of the Moore County Department of Public Welfare, Mrs. Walter B. Cole, di rector of public welfare, has an nounced. Miss McCrary holds the posi tion of stenographer-clerk. She comes to the department with training in the Asheboro Business School and experience in office work in two other agencies. She is a graduate of Carthage High School. Mr. Bobo is a case worker of the Moore County Welfare De partment . He is a graduate of Mars Hill College and Baylor University with two years at South Eastern Seminary. His fields of work before social work have been in the ministerial and teaching professions.
