Mrs. David Drexal, co-leader is expected to start the camping-out Training soon. Members of Troop 10, Mrs. Helen Raessel, leader, received their stars for one year member ship in Girl Scouts. They are working on Christmas presents. Troop 82, whose leader is Mrs. William Huntley, planted one hundred and fifty yellow pansy plants an the grounds of the Baptist Church last week. The plants were a gift from The Bethany Sunday School class of the church. The troop is selling subscriptions for magazines to help raise funds for a trip to Washington. Anyone who would like to renew their subscription please call Mrs. Huntley, Oxford 2-7464. Bath, England Visits Bath, N.C. Said Mrs. Edward Pryor of Bath, England: “When I hear people speaking with an American accent on the Royal Crescent in Bath where I live, I introduce myself to them and invite them to my house. I think it is so worth while getting to know each other in this way.” ' Mrs. Pryor has been here a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ives— “Such hospitality!” she said. “I enjoyed every moment of my .visit at Paint Hill Farm”—and she is today at Raleigh, where she is to speak to the assembled gath ering of members and guests of the North Carolina Society for the Preservation of Antiquities. From there she will go to Washington and New York, returning next week to England. By coinci dence, Mrs. Pryor lives in one of the lovely eighteenth century houSes for which Bath, England, is famous, houses that have much in common with some of the houses now in process of restora tion at the Carolina Bath, se veral of which were also built in 1750 and ’60. She is, of course, in tensely interested in the restora tion of the namesake town. Following her visit to the sea- coast town, Mrs. Pryor toured Virginia, visiting Mt. Vernon and other great houses of the state and other parts of the South. As a member of the Bath Commission for the Restoration of Bath Ab bey, which suffered heavily from bombing during the war, Mrs. Pryor spoke of contributions made by Americans to this cause and of her satisfaction in the many evidences of friendship she said she found everywhere on her travels here. “People are so very friendly, she said. “They go out of then- way to make you feel at home and to be cordial.” The British visitor also praised the small wayside restaurants where, she said, she had “had good food in clean and attractive surround- During her tour, Mrs. Pryor j spoke to several groups of the English-Speaking Union, notably in Washington, D. C., and Mont gomery, Ala. WILDLIFE SANCTUARY The 25,000-acre Mount Mitchell Wildlife Management Area, ex- tending high up on Mount Mitch- ell’s western slopes, supports a large deer herd and offers bear hunting supervised by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Com mission in cooperation with the U. S. Forest Service. Mount | Mitchell, like all other North Car olina State parks, is a wildlife sanctuary closed to hunting year around.
