THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7, 1961 T. J. Bain, 66, Carthage, Dies Thomas James, C. Bain, 66, of Carthage died Thursday after noon of last week. He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Frazier; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Proctor of Durham and Mrs. June Lapping of Burkburnett, Tex. and six grandchildren. He was an engi neer with the Civil Service until his retirement. During World War H, he was an engineer with Bethlehem Steel Company in Baltimore, Md. He had resided in Carthage for the past several years. Funeral services w^re held Sun day at the home conducted by the Rev. B. E. Dotson. Interment followed in Cross Hill Cemetery. JACKSON SPRINGS NEWS Engaged Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Reaves of Hallsboro announce the en gagement of their daughter, Juanita, to the Rev. Leland Au- trey Richardson, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Richardson of Jackson Springs. The wedding is planned for January 21. Birth Announcements Mr. and Mrs. Aubra Moody, Jr., who are niaking their home here with his parents have a baby boy, Rodney Keith Moody. Recent guests of the Moodys were Mrs. Sally Jane Parker with Johnny, Joe and Vinesa of Denton. A baby girl was born Sunday morning at Moore Memorial Hos pital to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cole. Mrs. Cole, is the former Miss Betsy Wajtne Godfrey. Personals Calling on Miss Agnes Graham on Sunday afternoon were. Mrs. Neal Graham of Cameron and Miss Virginia Graham of Fayette ville. Also recent visitors of Miss Graham were Misses Kate and Eva Graham of Southern Pines. The family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thomas had a get-to gether Wednesday evening for dinner at the community house. In attendance with their families were Mrs. Helen Lee of Thomas- ville, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Thomas cf Gastonia, Mr. and Mrs. J, E. Hall of Greensboro, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wimberly of Aberdeen, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Currie, Jr., of West End, and the Claude, Ted, and Elrie Thomas families. A special Thanksgiving Day service was held at the Pleasant Hill Church for the Circuit which - includes the Methodist Churches of Eagle Springs, Marcus and Doub’s Capel. The Rev. Timothy Hickey and the Rev. Mr. Williams conducted the service. Mrs. Kimes Blake had a devo tional and also presented a pro gram on “The World Council of Churches” at the meeting of the Women of the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday vening at the Church. Home for the weekend with her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Char les Hodges of Greensboro. Miss Dorothy Webb also of Greensboro was a weekend guest of the Godfreys. Misses Judy Peppers of Elber- ton, Ga. and Beatrice Campbell of Troy were weekend guests of Gayle and Dayie Thomas.
