Judge J. Vance Rowe sentenced each of the men, the sentences to begin at expiration of the terms they are serving. The prisoners were Charles E. Mor gan of Asheboro and James C. Huggins of Rockingham, RFD. In contrast to the past two weeks, the court heard a short docket of cases Monday, comple ting its work about noon. Other cases were: Henry Mitchell, Route 2, Carth age, driving without operator’s license, .$15 and costs; Adam Julian Wyatt, Robbins, no chauf feur’s license, improper brakes, no operator’s license, 30 days on the roads, suspended on payment of $25 fine and costs; Floyd Glov er Patterson, Vass, drunken driv ing, 60 days on the roads, sus pended on payment of $100 fine and costs, driver’s license to be revoked for 12 months; Ernest B. Phillips Route 5, Sanford, careless and reckless driving, 30 days on the roads, suspended on payment of $35 fine and costs; David Mc Leod, Carthage, drunken driving, driving y^ithouJ‘ operator s license, failure to stop for officer, three months on the roads, suspended on payment of $25 fine and costs and on condition that he not oper ate a motor vehicle on the public roads until he obtains a license. J. Short, 42, Rt. 3, Carthage, Dies Suddenly Irvin Jasper Short, 42. of Car thage, Route 3, died suddenly Thursday night of last week. He was a World War II veteran and operated a store and gas station on Carthage Route 3., Mr. Short is survived by his wife, the former Annie Love of Carthage; two daughters, Betty Ann Love and, Mrs. Floyd Shef field, both of the home; five sons, Irvin Wayne of Delaney, Fla. and Marvin Douglas, Gary Lee, Ed ward Earl and Samuel Ernest Short, all of the home; two sis ters, Mrs. Henry Freeman and Mrs. William Barber, both of Route 3, Carthage; one brother, Lewis Short of Carthage, Route 3, and three grandchildren. Fun eral services were held Saturday at the Doubs Chapel Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Melvin Williamson.
