Church Program On Wednesday evening, the West End Methodist Church had .its Christmas program and party. The Junior and Intermediate Choirs, under the direction' of Mrs. W. A. Johnson, Jr., present ed a program of Christmas music. Sharon Richardson with her clar inet, Vernon Sutphin with his cor net, and William Johnson and Michael Graham with their trum pets, added much to the program. The members of the choirs are Macy and Benford Graham, Amy Cox, James and Laura Sutphin, Chuck Baldwin. Martin Chriscoe, Stephen, Libba and William John son, Delores Conrad, Michael and Brenda Graham, Sharon Richard son, Vernon and Christine Sui- phin. Linda Williams, Helen Ban ner, Suzie Von Canon, Joanne Sutphin, Billy Tyson and Mike Mclnnis. The. Rev. A. G. Tyson then led the congregation in a meditation and candlelighting service and each left the church with his lighted candle to let it shine in the world. In the Youth Building, the Sun- ^ day School classes under the di rection of Mrs. T. B. Graham, Miss Blanche Monroe, Mrs. V. L Sutphin, Mrs. J. L. Branson, Mrs. j J. F. Sinclair and Mrs. Roy Swar- ingen each made a contribution n leading Christmas meditations. The Church School then recog-1 nized each of its members with a I treat which were presented by the Church lay leader Roy Swarin-1 gen and the superintendent, De catur Richardson. Gifts were pre sented the minister and his fam ily and then the jolly old fellow, Santa Claus, appeared and talked | with the children. Crowned Queen Nancy McLean, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David McLean of Eagle j Springs was crowned Homecom- i ing ueen Monday evening at the school gymnasium. Pretty Nancy is a popular member of the Junior Class, and she was crowned by | Coach Otis Boroughs. The Mono-1 gram Club sponsored this event | with Roger Green serving as pres ident and with Wayne Livingood as master of ceremonies. Mem bers of the Homecoming Court I were Linda McNair, Judy Wil liams, and Jean Monroe. Jr. Glee Club Sings Mrs. John Bartley presented I the Junior Glee Club which is | sponsored by the PTA in a Christ mas program at the school Tues day evening. Helen Hanner gave the Christmas Story and soloists for the evening were Theresa Luck, Terry Reid, Patricia Luck, Steve Tuttle, Betty Jo Stubbs, Janet and Becky Markham, Edna Saunders, and Janice Gordon. The audience was delighted with sev eral songs by the sextet compos ed of Libba Johnson, Linda Wil liams, Joyce Blue, Janice Gor- dan, and Becky and Janet Mark ham. Accompanists for the pro gram were Janice Gordon,Janet Markham, Billy Tyson, and John Bartley. Serving as ushers were Jane Jackson, Sylvia Cole, and Billy Harris. Lions Club Party Lion George Houck was chair man of the program Thursday evening at the Lion Christmas dinner party honoring their wives. Soloists for the musical numbers were Janice Gordon and Myriam Gibson and a special solo by Lion Houck with Mrs. Houck serving as acompanist. Sarny Hill won the prize for the most humorous telegram using the words from Santa Claus. Humorous gifts were presented to the club officers, other contests were held and carols were sung.
