Plant perennials along one side of the garden so they will be out of the way when you are working your annual crops—such perennials as asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, dewberries and raspberries. Eastwood Club Mrs. A. H. Garrison, Sr. of the Eastwood Home Demonstration Club is one to be praised in her work. Mrs. Garrison has made 18 smocked sofa pillows since she learned the art recently. Eleven of these pillows were given to her children as an ext»a thought for them at Christmas, two were giv en to close friends, and one was given to her Sunshine Friend at Christmas. Three pillows were put at the Woman’s Exchange in Pinehurst. Anyone who has made these pillows will know and ap preciate the time and effort Mrs. Garrison put forth in making them and especially so since all but four were for gifts—Mrs. Gar rison only kept one for herself. Mrs. Garrison’s comment: “I enjoyed every minute of making them but I am ready to leam something new now.” Knowing Mrs. Garrison, we are sure this will not be hard to do. —By Mrs. Barbara Kirk Secretary of Eastwood Club FROM FARMERS 2 Applications Due In ’62 for Gas Tax Refund Farmers’ applications for a re fund of state gasoline tax paid on gas not used on the highways in 1961 'must be filed by April 15, F.
